2 Years of Blogging; A Walk Down Memory Lane

Come 28th February 2017, FiercePaint turns 2!

It is surreal that I’ve made it this far.

1st of January 2015, I made a commitment to myself to do something beauty related.

My initial plan was to attend beauty school and learn makeup and hair part time.

But somehow, I didn’t want to limit myself as just a makeup artist.

Besides, I felt that there was little anyone could teach me about makeup that I couldn’t learn myself.

Somewhere along the way, I rediscovered YouTube and beauty blogs.

The light went on.

Something just clicked.

I looked out for options and decided WordPress was more user friendly. As much as Blogger allows very specific customisation, there were some things WordPress could offer me that Blogger could not.

I had to forgo monetising for ease of use.

Superiority of this decision is something I still debate on, but at the moment, in no hurry to resolve.

Unabashed and unapologetic, I share my very first post!

Let me now take this opportunity to THANK ALL OF YOU!

Whether you read carefully or skim to the end to post a comment;

or if you scan through for the specifics that pertain to your interest;

or if you just plain hit the like button on WordPress reader.

Whether you are blogger, a friend of mine, another makeup enthusiast, or just all the random people following me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, NO matter who you are, if you read or follow FiercePaint in the tiniest semblance of that context,

(of course you may imagine me holding your hand and looking into your eyes in profound gratitude!)

Whenever I come on to WordPress, there are a few things that almost make me feel like I literally got a hug…

…that tiny orange dot on the bell sign on the top right corner;

…whenever I catch a glimpse of my blog header picture;

…as vain, self absorbed, insignificant and inconsequential as this may sound; whenever the Blog Stats climb up to another milestone.

I must applaud the beauty community on the blogosphere that is so unbelievably- yes that’s the word I am using- positive that I have felt nothing but welcomed!

Unlike YouTube trolls.

Speaking of YouTube…

My YouTube channel is doing ok considering the mere four videos I have up.

Published in 14th September 2015, here’s how my second video is doing;

Well, f**k those 10 a@@h#e$!

And published in 27th April 2016, here’s how my third is doing.

From Instagram, I offer you revelations;

I tried this beginner hand at “special fx” makeup. Take the quotation marks very seriously!

Some people actually thought this was photoshopped.

To wrap up…

as bad as everyone seem to think 2016 was, it was perhaps one of the best years of my entire life!!!

Welcome 2017!

I look forward to another sublime year!

PS: I know few people would sit through all that rambling but more than for FiercePaint readers, this post was for me to read and reread an indefinite amount of times.

    • So sweet of you! I remember following your blog but there hasn’t been an update in a while and somehow got unsubscribed. Good thing you left a comment! I went ahead and got myself updated!

    • OMG, I’d never in a million years think I’d get to know amazing people like yourself from Canada and America and all over the world!
      It is, one of, if not the best decision I have ever made in my entire life! Now, I can’t imagine myself without this identity as a beauty blogger!
      Thank you so much Stashy! ❀ ❀ ❀
      Looking forward to an eventful and every bit the FIERCE 2017!!!

  1. Wish you more and more awesome followers πŸ™‚ Blog is quite hard thing actually, cause you have to be persistent and keep buying and testing out products and then taking photos and writing.! It takes so much effort, but in the end, there are all those things you mentioned, that simply makes your day and you know – that you are only doing a nice thing and you are surrounded by people who are interested in BEAUTY (which is one of the nicest words created πŸ™‚ ) Best wishes!

    • Hey there Marika! Thank you so so much!!! Such nice things you say.. ❀ ❀ ❀
      Actually, for me blogging, although I spent a lot of time and money, never occurred to me as being hard because it kind of saved my life. I was in all time low, riddled with anxiety and depression. I went to hospital once because my pulse was beating so fast and I had chest pains and difficulty in breathing. After the doctors checked me out, they found out that the cause of my problem was depression and anxiety.
      Blogging gave me a way to keep it away because whenever I am taking pictures of the makeup or playing with them or putting them on or organising them or editing pictures, I have managed to keep myself calm and not let the issues that cause me anxiety and depression to get me down. I am so very grateful and thankful because I found blogging and what makes it all the more fantastic is I blog about something I am very passionate about… MAKEUP!!!
      Yes, when talking to other people who are also interested in makeup, it is the most fabulous thing ever! I have my very very best friends whom I LOVE beyond anything else but somehow they're not interested in discussing the pros and cons of liquid lipsticks and the importance of blending brushes for 3 or 4 hours. I recently discovered another beauty blogger in my little town (I do believe we're the only two here) and we have been best of friends because she and I can chat about which brand is the most dark skin friendly at Sephora for hours!

      • I am happy to hear that this has helped you to overcome that. Cause it’s a pretty dangerous problem and no one would like to suffer from that… Makeup, like art, can make you much more calm and focused so it can help to a lot of people πŸ™‚
        And about friends you can talk about makeup – I understand you sooooo much. I am happy that I also have 1 friend who is just following the trends and that’s it, but it’s enough to be able to discuss things and talk for many hours πŸ™‚ Happy that you have such friend now, close to you. πŸ™‚

  2. 2016 was good for me as well and I’m glad it was for you! I didn’t realize you were on YouTube, though, so I just subscribed! You really are doing so well for only having 4 videos up. And good job on making it 2 years. I’m with you on seeing the progress reflected in the growth of your channel/blog cause I feel that way about mine too, but it’s also nice to just have a community of people that “get” you, ya know!? So thank YOU too for all of YOUR support as well!

    • Been subscribed to your channel for a while now. I’ve even commented and joined your giveaway there.
      Well I didn’t wanna put out videos that may exist out there. And those two videos with the views do not exist safe for mine. There are complete Indian classical dance makeup but they’re so sloppy. I understand that it isn’t necessary for Indian dance makeup or stage makeup to be precise because it is only seen from a distance but the anal retentive me cannot stand it!
      Owh no! THANK YOU for all your support! I’d never imagine to find like minded people sharing similar interests all the way from the USA! I’d never imagine I’d be where I am and I am beyond grateful I have!

  3. Happy Anniversary my friend! Love this post.. i enjoyed reading it a lot! I can reread this over and over and still would find it very entertaining and I can see through the words how much it meant to you. Congrats and cheers to more years of blogging!πŸ‘πŸ»πŸŽ‰
