Essence I Love Stage Eyeshadow Base Review

I love Essence products; affordable and the brand offers a wide range of products. Essence is owned by Cosnova which is a company based in Germany. This review is on the I ❤ STAGE eyeshadow base which is an eyeshadow primer.

I have done swatches with the product on its own and with eyeshadows as well.

Swatches of not very pigmented eyeshadows. I swear I didn’t do anything except swatch the shadows!

I swear I did nothing!

I swear I did nothing! I wanted to edit in a black line to distinguish swatches between bare eyeshadows and with the primer. Apparently and obviously that was not necessary!

This eye look was attached in my previous post as well. I used the primer here. This eye look lasted a good five hours of wear.

Description:

It is an eyeshadow base that has a very similar consistency to a concealer. There is about 4ml of product and it comes in only one shade.

Price: MYR 15.80 (not including discounts and promotions)

Where to buy: Watsons and Mydin (yes, Mydin!!!).

Pros:

It is one of the cheapest (if not the cheapest) eyeshadow primers available in Malaysian drugstores.

As seen in the pictures above it really does enhance the colour of the eyeshadow.

Although the colour is pretty light, it does not show through eyeshadow (as in the hand swatch picture).

Blends seamlessly into the skin and it is not patchy or streaky.

Eyeshadow blends very seamlessly on the eyelids with this primer.

Eyeshadow lasts longer on the eyelids (5 hours of wear on my friend and the eyeshadow had just faded a tiny bit).

Cons:

I cannot attest to its capacity to reduce creasing on the eyelids because I did not notice that much of a difference than when I used just concealer as an eyeshadow base.

I don’t know just how long eyeshadow would last but 5 hours of wear is pretty amazing for a drugstore eyeshadow primer.

The ashy look to it might just cause a problem on very deep skin tones if over applied (only the tiniest dollop is necessary).

It’s cheap, gets the job done reasonably well and is available at the drugstore! Enough said!
