Ride or Die Makeup Tag

I was tagged by the beautiful Lakshmi Praba of Big is Compatible (blog link here). We are from the same hometown which is so amazing and not only is she a fellow blogger but has, of late, become a fast close friend who I can speak to about anything and everything that fuels our passion, especially MAKEUP!!! Do check her out!!!

Anyway, I do have a disclaimer to make. As much as I pride my techniques, I am not a product junkie to say the least. So, as much as I can work out products that I initially try out and use, I haven’t tried out too many product to come up with a ride or die makeup list for every type of makeup product. I do, however, have 5 products that I swear by and 4 of these I have repurchased!

I’ll just randomly name them.

Wet N Wild Megalast Lip Color in E914C Mocha-licious

I bought this in Thailand and featured it in a post (link here). I have been looking for this everywhere here in Malaysia! It is the perfect nude for me!

I bought this in Thailand and reviewed it (link here). This was the only product I haven’t repurchased because it isn’t readily available here.

Ooofff, it is straight up brown with pink undertones.

Swatch, ooofff, it is straight up brown with pink undertones.

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

I swear by this product and if it does not work for you I feel so SO sorry (review link here)!!!

IMG_7612

Silkygirl Expert Brow Slim Liner in 02 Dark Brown

This is a recent favourite which I have tested to positive results (review link here). I recently picked another hyped affordable product from Sephora and was surprised that this held up better than that!

IMG_7748

Essence Lash & Brow Gel Mascara

This is cheap and works! Enough said! I reviewed it already (link here) and there’s even a YouTuber comparing it to a high end product.

The product.

Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara

This is a tinted gel mascara and although I have yet to compare it to its obviously high end counterpart, I love this product! I have reviewed already (link here).

YES! I got a new background!!!

My next post is a product empties post (and it’s massive!!).

And after that are pictures updated posts!

And I will catch up with all of you guys very soon!

Have a great day!

The Beauty Blogger Tag (Tag #4, #5, and #6)

I have been tagged for The Beauty Blogger Tag by three absolutely gorgeous bloggers!

IMG_3986eeepixlr

The Rules for this Tag:

Tag the blogger that nominated you
Answer the questions you were given
Nominate 10 bloggers whose blog is about beauty/lifestyle/fashion
Name 10 questions for your nominees to answer
Inform the bloggers you chose that you nominated them

First was by Kylie of BittersweetXBeauty (blog link here).

Kylie is amazing at makeup! So many gorgeous looks and so many colourful creations! Seeing her looks will give you inspiration!

Second by Ania of Lipsticks and Dreams (blog link here).

Besides being a gorgeous beauty blogger with a penchant for all kinds of beauty and makeup products, she writes in not one but TWO languages! English and Polish!!!

Third was by Lyndsey of Susheii (blog link here).

Although concentrated on all things beauty (product reviews, looks, etc), she also writes about her family, her vacations and so much more!

Questions by Kylie

1. What is your opinion on Liquid Lipsticks? Love it or Hate it?

I have a love hate relationship with liquid lipsticks. I love it for stage performances because it stays on without needing to touch up. But I have yet to find a comfortable one except for the one I’ve reviewed here (link here), that is as affordable for me to use on a day to day basis.

2. What is your holy grail makeup product?

The Urban Decay All Nighter makeup setting spray. Just reviewed it (link here)!

3. What is your favorite highlighter?

TBH, I am not a big fan of highlighting. I personally feel that with my textured skin, highlighting only further accentuates it. I do highlight my face for stage which I do with any type shimmery shadow at my disposal that has gold or bronze undertones in it.

4. What is your favorite article of clothing? Mine are flannels and jackets! Lol

Basic tees! I am a relaxed person when it comes to clothing (at the moment at least). I do love my Indian attires but those are usually worn for an occasion.

5. Cream contour or powder contour?

Both! I like building with creams, sheering them out and blending to almost nothing and then setting with corresponding powders.

6. Favorite Eye look? (Smokey, Halo, Cut Crease, etc)

Smokey!!!

7. Do you have a pet peeve when it comes to makeup or a current makeup trend?

Oh where do we start! At the moment it is the whole strobing/over-highlighting trend. Some people do it so horribly!!!

8.“Baking”. Yes or No?

YES! I was doing this in 2008/9!!!!!!!!!!! Never named it back then!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I actually learned it from Tyra on The Tyra Show which ended in 2011. And before 2012 no one had heard of the under-eye powder baking technique except drag queens and makeup artists! By the way, baking is a very VERY old drag queen makeup technique and if you didn’t know this, you need to do your makeup research!!! And honey, Tyra Banks and not Kim K introduced it to the world! Proof below!!!

9. Favorite place to shop for makeup?

Watsons, Guardian, and Sephora!

10. Favorite place to shop for clothes?

It’s called Big n Tall. At the moment it’s my saviour!

Questions by Ania

1. If you could use only one makeup item, which one would it be?

Mascara (which I will double as eyeliner).

2. What are your beauty essentials when traveling?

My cleanser, toner, and moisturiser! I only carry makeup when necessary! And when I do, it’s my concealer, pressed powder foundation, eyebrow pencil, liner and mascara.

NO!!!!!!!!!!! I am not answering this!!!!!!!!!!!! You people need to realise that I am going to offend my makeup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have so many faves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4. Which beauty product do you consider as completely unneccessary?

None! If there’s some kind of beauty product, I want to slap it on my face!

5. Foundation, tinted moisturizer or bare face?

It all depends! I am comfortable either way. Makeup sometimes just to get coffee. Bare faced sometimes even on a night out.

6. What is your favourite perfume?

Sean John’s Unforgivable, Paco Rabanne’s Black XS, Clinique’s Happy for Men, Bath and Body Works Wild Madagascar Vanilla.

7. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I’ve got a few choices, Odisha, India OR Paris, France OR San Francisco, USA OR Rio, Brazil!

8. What is your favourite dessert?

At the moment Thailand. But I am sure this is bound to change as I travel more…

Questions by Lyndsey

1.What is your favorite beauty brand?

No, no no no no no no no no NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. What is your favorite skincare brand?

I am loving Paula’s Choice skincare which really impressed me (review post here).

3. What is the one beauty technique you just cannot do right?

Hairstyling! So troublesome!

4. What is your favorite brush brand?

Ecotools! If you have never tried EcoTools, stop everything and go and get something from them! Not only are they cheap, the brushes are sturdy and made from recycled, sustainable, cruelty-free materials! For Malaysians I’d recommend you try Breena Beauty brushes (locally made, Muslim friendly brushes; e-shop link here and my review of one of the brushes here).

5. Are you more of a powder or cream product person?

It really depends. Powder sets cream and I like that…. 😀

6. What is your favorite thing about yourself?

Huh-NEY!!!!!! I am FAB-U-LOUS! I, in my entirety, is the favourite thing about me!!!

7. What does beauty mean to you?

Beauty means depth. There’s poetic significance in what is seen as beautiful and some kind of surreal satisfaction in knowing that the bottom line is that every human soul perceives beauty in their own personalised way. Now, that is powerful! And by that extension, no one is ugly.

8. What is your favorite quote?

My quote of course!

Ultimately it is about loving yourself even when it is all off! *finger snaps*

quote

9. What do you look for in a beauty blogger?

In depth and concise reviews, properly executed makeup looks, somewhat extensive product knowledge (in their market at least), and well written posts.

10. What is your all time favorite perfume?

If I had to pick one (from the list from Ania’s questions) it would be Sean John’s Unforgivable.

My 10 Questions,

  1. One makeup product that you’d advise everyone to stay away from! Only one.
  2. One skincare product that you’d advise everyone to stay away from! Only one.
  3. If you could have your own makeup line what would you call it?
  4. If you could name an eyeshadow you created what would you call it?
  5. What hue would the eyeshadow be, what finish would it be (matte, pearlescent, shimmery), would it be a powder, a stick, cream, or loose pigment?
  6. One makeup skill you think you haven’t mastered yet.
  7. Do you like doing your makeup in silence or with something playing in the background (what do you play if you prefer the latter)?
  8. Which era of makeup are you most drawn to (20s, 40s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s) and what about that era do you like?
  9. Waxing, threading or plucking. Eyebrows that is.
  10. Let’s keep this interesting. Tell us a beauty related joke!

I usually nominate everyone who wants to do the tag but I want to tag specific people because I am dying to get to know their answers! My nominees would be;

Stashy of Stash Matters (blog link here)

Rossy of AyR Galaxy (blog link here)

Diana of CheonsaDiana’s Reviews (blog link here)

Dannii of A Beautiful Thing (blog link here)

Chris of fivezero (blog link here)

And as I always say, no pressure to do this guys. It is entirely up to you!

Beauty Bloggers Lovers Tag

I was tagged by Stacey T of A Maple Girl (link here); a gorgeous blogger, she recently started sharing recipes even! She is, in fact, running a giveaway on her blog so do check it out! There’s a certain chocolate inspired palette up for winning! 😀

1. Which beauty blogger would you like to do your makeup?

Ellinor Rosander, more popularly known for her special effects work on the popular YouTube channel ellimacs sfx makeup (link here). She’s been a blogger long before her work on the YouTube channel and yes, I want to be transformed! Into a fantasy creature, with horns, claws and prosthesis, no less!

2. Which beauty blogger do you want to be your best friend?

Emily Noel of course!!! She started YouTube before blogging (blog link here) but both outlets were started way back in 2008. She’s the darling beauty YouTuber everyone wants to be friends with! And there’s no denying her talent in makeup! In fact, she inspired one of my more interesting posts about the simple joys of makeup (link here).

3. Which beauty blogger would you have a secret affair with?

I have a blogger in mind but my lips are sealed! *evil smiles* (or my fingers rather; because this is typed, get it? get it?? oh well….)

4. Which beauty blogger would you like to go on a shopping spree with?

Let’s make this a possible real life scenario shall we? Emily Quak; she is a local blogger and she is also a beauty YouTuber with the most number of subscribers in the country (Malaysia)! Her success is with good reason. She is pretty amazing at what she does. Also, I am being a little biased as well 😛 😛 😛 because she did choose me as a winner for two giveways (one with L’oreal Malaysia; mentioned here and another with The Body Shop Malaysia; a.k.a my The Power of Makeup post, link here).

5. Which beauty blogger could convince you not to buy something you’ve always wanted?

I don’t think anyone could, let alone a beauty blogger. The operative phrase here is “something you’ve always wanted”. I like to learn my own lessons. 😛 But I would agree with Stacey, Tati (GlamLifeGuru) is the one person that has swayed me away from products I may have contemplated purchasing. Tati isn’t exactly a blogger though so hey! Still no answer! 😛 😛 😛

6. Which beauty bloggers stash would you like to transplant into your room?

Emily Noel’s! Have you seen the number of Ikea Alex drawers in her room???!!!!

7. What are the top three items a beauty blogger has talked you into buying?

The Biore Perfect Cleansing Water (my review here), Chulip lip balm (my review here); these two were the doing of Emily Quak. Breena Beauty Face Luxe brush (my review here); this was not a coercion but something I purchased to show my support to a fellow Malaysian beauty blogger who’s doing great things. The blogger in question is Sabrina Tajudin (link here).

8. What are the top three items a beauty blogger talked you out of getting?

Maybelline Velvet Matte Liquid Lip Color via Sabrina Tajudin, Essence Metal Glam Eyeshadow and Revlon Single Eyeshadow (detachable ones) via Emily Noel.

I tag all of you guys to do this!!! Cool tag huh? A rare instance of my post being devoid of pictures. 😛

10 Christmas Beauty Questions Tag

It’s nice to do these tags and this is specifically about Christmas…

I was tagged by the gorgeous Amanda who blogs at MakeupWithAK (AK = Amanda Kerr) link here. She’s another makeup junkie like myself. Hi Amanda!!! *waves* Do drop by and follow her, like her posts and write her some nice comments!

tagpic

1.) Have you been naughty or nice this year with your skincare routine?

Surprisingly I’ve been nice when I’m usually naughty! 😛

2.) What’s the go-to beauty, makeup or skincare product you would gift to your family and friends?

As much as I love makeup, I hesitate to give them as gifts because personal preference and suitability to skin type/tone is very subjective. No friends or family members of mine, (at least to the extend I know of) has a makeup wishlist. The one person I have given makeup gifts to is mom and its usually lipsticks and eyeliners; two things she uses most often in her makeup routine.

3.) Do you mind gifting high-end products or rather drug store products to others?

I think I’d prefer high-end but I’ve done both. The great thing about drugstore makeup is you can double the amount of products you can get for the same amount of money.

4.)What are the beauty products you’re hoping to get to see under your Christmas tree this year?

I am Hindu so I don’t exactly celebrate Christmas. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t join in the merry and joyous occasions. My friends and I have our own Christmas celebrations. Since I live in a tropical country my best friends and I typically gather for a nice Christmas (or Christmas eve) dinner. I do receive gifts from an aunt of mine and her two daughters (my cousins) who are Christians but no beauty products so far. So, to answer the question, I am  not expecting any kind of beauty products under the Christmas tree.

5.)What is the beauty product that you’re dreading to receive for Christmas this year?

Read #4. 🙂 🙂 🙂 If I had to answer the hypothetical question it would be, any kind of skincare product.

6.)Are you are beauty blogger participating in Blogmas this year? If so what is the post you’re most proud of so far?

I am not participating in Blogmas but it is so cool. Looking at how other blogger friends of mine have “decorated” their blog for Blogmas; it seems like so much fun.

7.) Do you remember the first beauty product you received as a Christmas present? What was it and did you enjoy it?

Read #4.

8.)What mini size product would you recommend as a great stocking stuffer?

Sample size mascaras from Sephora! There’s something about tiny mascara tubes that I have such an affinity towards and I’m sure people would enjoy them!

9.)Would you rather you friends and family ask you gifts you wanted to receive or have them surprise you?

I generally don’t like surprises, however, I think the spirit of a Christmas gift is in its mystery. In this case I happen to like the surprise. I have never been disappointed with a Christmas gift because to me it’s all about the mystery and ripping the wrapping paper to discover a little trinket inside!

10.) What is your favourite way to show Christmas spirit through your look or outfit?

Neither because there isn’t really a beauty tradition for me during the holidays. Even during Deepavali.

PS: You must be wondering what’s up with the picture. Well, that happens to be Christmas eve 2014 at my best friend’s place (hi Brendan and Jon!!!). It was  nice quiet Christmas eve dinner of beet and persimmon salad, some penne, and roasted chicken thighs on a bed of potatoes, carrots, garlic and olive oil! I made dessert that day; apple crumble with vanilla ice cream!

I tag everyone reading this! Do drop me a comment to let me know if you did!

Here are the questions so you can copy and paste.

11 Things You Didn’t Know About Harivain

Presentation1

I actually wanted do a Products Empties post but I have yet to snap and edit my pictures and this week is going to be a busy one. Besides, FiercePaint tends to be a little product heavy sometimes, so I decided to do this tag by blogger Aynal instead.  She does some very fun stuff over at her blog, everything from beauty to books to gadgets. She is also a YouTuber so you can check her out there too and perhaps subscribe as well. 🙂

Aynal’s blog; http://letaknamaterlalumainstream.blogspot.my/

Aynal’s YouTube channel; https://www.youtube.com/user/Aynalnal

I was supposed to tag 10 bloggers but I tag anyone who reads this to do it. Do drop me comment so I can check out your answers!

Here were her questions for me;

1. What is your favorite song at the moment?

I am obsessed with a few songs at the moment and they are very random and always on a loop.

– Dhoom Machale from Dhoom 3 (Bollywood)

– You Think by Girls Generation (K-pop)

– How Deep is Your Love by Calvin Harris & Disciples

– Focus by Ariana Grande

– Aaaluma Dholuma from Vedhalam (Tamil song)

2. First thoughts when you knew me?

I knew you via Anys actually and I watched your swap video with her and subscribed. I thought you were really cool! And I absolutely love that you rock the NYX SMLC in Transylvania in your videos.

3. What is your favorite dessert to eat?

Chocolate, chocolate ice cream. Wait, wait, anything chocolate. Yes, anything chocolate! *drooling*

4. Favorite item of the month?

Since I am a beauty blogger, I am going to say my Urban Decay makeup setting spray. I only have a third of the bottle left. 😥

5. So, now what inspired you to blog?

As a teenager I used to keep diaries so blogging just seemed very natural. I also always loved makeup (my About Me page is a gist of my makeup obsession story). I, being the numbnut I am, only now (2015) decided to combine the two.

6. What do you like to do when you’re bored?

Read, watch TV series reruns, take pictures for my blog, blog-hopping and YouTube of course. By the way, I don’t have time to be bored these days.

7. Favorite movie of the month?

Vedhalam (recent release), Tamil movie.

8. Describe yourself – Choose one: (FUNNY, HONEST, SERIOUS, LOVING, )

Funny. I think. Although I am honest I don’t think of honesty as the first thing about me. Serious, obviously not. Loving, doesn’t sound right… Yes, yes, funny, yes funny. Yes……. *cricket sounds*

9. Tell me something that I don’t know about you. I would love to know! 🙂

I love water activities! I’m not the best swimmer, but I CAN swim. I love being in the pool. As a child that was my ideal family getaway, water parks!!!

10. Favorite color? And why?

Red. It’s just a feeling. I associate it with being Fierce!

11. Describe your sense of style.

Relaxed. Not so much comfortable because my idea of comfort is my home clothing. Relaxed is the word. I am a denim and T-shirt kinda guy. I only ever pull out a shirt for special occasions.

If you decide to do it, here are my 11 questions for you (I went a little crazy with these questions);

  1. Makeup; do you prefer to focus on your lips or focus on your eyes? Choose one. If you are not a beauty blogger or don’t wear makeup choose one in terms of your wardrobe; do you prefer to focus on your clothing item or your accessories (bags, shoes, watches).
  2. One foreign city you would like to visit and why?
  3. Would you rather be bald or have no eyebrows?
  4. One person, dead or alive, you would want to go on a long afternoon drive with and one question you would ask that person.
  5. Reading an e-book or reading a book? Why?
  6. One life regret.
  7. Write a sentence in a language besides English with an accompanying English translation.
  8. Share a life hack.
  9. Write a story with two 15-words-sentence.
  10. What fantasy creature would you like to be? (leave out aliens and sci-fi stuff)
  11. This is going to be a directive. Go watch Please Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared 2 – Time (link here). If you are easily freaked out then don’t watch it and answer #11 with “null”. Once you are done watching write down what you felt about the video in no more than 30 words.

To all my new followers from Facebook that are coming from Syiok Sendiri, I welcome you! Thanks for following FiercePaint in spite of the shameless promotion! 😆

Thanks!!!
