B-Lab I Am Sorry Just Cleansing, Cleansing Water

Update 17th June 2019: Prices have been revised for these products. Scroll down to see changes.

*Disclaimer: None of the links in this review is an affiliate link. I am an Althea brand ambassador but I am NOT paid to write this review or test the product. The product was something purchased with free Althea store credit.

B-Lab is a Korean cosmetics brand whose sole purpose is to create cleansing products hence their entire line is only made up of, well, cleansers. With very simple, no fluff packaging they focus on good quality natural ingredients and effective cleansing methods.

I got the smaller one to test but because Althea was so generous to give me store credit, I went for the large 500ml one. It is a simple squeeze bottle and the black cap can screw all the way off so one could definitely reuse the bottle for something else.

Ingredient list is in Korean so I did have to refer to Althea and Google translate for information.

Description: Cleansing water that comes in 100 ml and 500 ml bottles.

Ingredients: ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF EXTRACT ,GLYCERIN, MALVA SYLVESTRIS (MALLOW) EXTRACT, MENTHA PIPERITA (PEPPERMINT) LEAF EXTRACT, PRIMULA VERIS EXTRACT, ALCHEMILLA VULGARIS EXTRACT, VERONICA OFFICINALIS EXTRACT, MELISSA OFFICINALIS LEAF EXTRACT, ACHILLEA MILLEFOLIUM EXTRACT, LAVANDULA ANGUSTIFOLIA (LAVENDER) EXTRACT, MONARDA DIDYMA LEAF EXTRACT, FREESIA REFRACTA EXTRACT, ANTHEMIS NOBILIS FLOWER EXTRACT, ROSMARINUS OFFICINALIS (ROSEMARY) LEAF EXTRACT, ALLANTOIN, DISODIUM EDTA, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, XYLITOL, MALTITOL, CITRIC ACID, CETRIMONIUM BROMIDE

Price: MYR 17.00 for 100ml and MYR 52.00 for 500ml (revised price, MYR 20.00 for 100ml & MYR 54.00 for 500ml)

Swatch test

From left to right, hard to remove liquid lip, blue liquid liner, concealer, tough to remove waterproof mascara, three pigmented eyeshadows.

Pretty good, considering, that mascara is the devil’s spawn and that liquid lipstick belongs on the Sahara desert because it dries out the lips like none I’ve tried!

Pros:

Light on the skin.

Very effective at removing makeup.

Skin feels refreshed after using.

Love the reusable bottle!

Very natural ingredients!

Cons:

Tiny bit of sticky feeling after use.

Does burn my eyes but it isn’t as bad as some others.

VERY bitter! DO NOT recommend using this on the lips!

Rating: 8/10

The price is not too bad for the amount of product and it performs pretty well but I’d look to the drugstores for my tried and tested.

Althea Milk Peel Cream Mask Review

Althea has been releasing product after product and another edition to it is this new Milk Peel Cream Mask!

This product was sent to me but opinions are all mine.

Outer packaging.

Description is all in Korean. But Althea Malaysia is working on pasting a translation on the back.

The bottle.

Attach a pump to any liquid cosmetic product and you win hearts!

Description: A bubbly mask that is required to be applied for only a minute! Comes in 50ml or 1.7 fl. oz. It is supposed to contain AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) and BHA (beta hydroxy acid) but although not explicitly written, it is typically contained in milk and glycolic acid is a type of AHA.

Ingredients: WATER (AQUA), KAOLIN, GLYCERIN, DISILOXANE, BENTONITE, PROPANEDIOL, MYRISTIC ACID, METHYL PERFLUOROISOBUTYL ETHER, STEARICACID, METHYL PERFLUOROBUTYL ETHER, POTASSIUM HYDROXIDE, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, PALMITIC ACID , ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, MILK PROTEINEXTRACT, DISODIUM EDTA, GAULTHERIA PROCUMBENS (WINTERGREEN) LEAF EXTRACT, GLUCONOLACTONE, GLYCOLIC ACID, TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891), FRAGRANCE (PARFUM), COUMARIN, HEXYL CINNAMAL, CITRONELLOL

Price: MYR 36

I’ve uploaded a video of me trying on the product on YouTube. And of course please subscribe!!! I don’t have half a million subscribers to be saying subscription is optional (if you get that reference then you’d understand seamlessness HAHAHA).

The mask. White in colour. Thick cream consistency.

As I spread it, it started BUBBLING! That was cool! It is a bubble mask!!!

Hopefully you can see the bubbles. It bubbles almost immediately so it was difficult to get a shot of the product before it bubbles. So I guess you just have to take my word for it that it was just a white cream. Hahaha!

Pros:

Easy to use!

Fast!

Pump and the bottle, are no muss no fuss, both in terms of functionality and aesthetics.

Skin felt smooth and soft.

Definitely reduces inflammation (I had a large painful zit that happens very infrequently and this product definitely helped reduce both the zit itself and redness around the skin. I would have taken pictures but I more focused about product having an affect on my skin as opposed to the acne. Only noticed it when the zit wasn’t uncomfortable anymore and realised it had shrunk after having used this product a few times. I believe this is due to the BHA in the product which has always had positive affect on my skin. I’ve reviewed Paula’s Choice skincare in the past and one product was a definite winner for me; link to review here).

Skin felt moisturised!

Cons:

None! (First Althea product without a CON!)

Rating: 9/10

Loved using this! MYR 36 may be not be something I’d spend on just 50 ml product but it is in no way a pricey product. Besides, one would use a mask perhaps 3 to 4 times a week at most so the product will last you a while. Also, I already have so many products to try out and finish so I wouldn’t purchase it at the moment.

10 SECOND MASK??? Althea Real Fresh Skin Detoxer Review

I am an Althea Angel!!!

Yes guys, it is a beauty ambassador program for beauty influencers to sign up for and I am so excited to be a part of it. We get first dips on latest products and hence I get to tell you if they’re good or not.

I’ve shopped on Althea several times and they are efficient, and I have nothing but praises for them. I’ve linked some posts that I’ve done with products from Althea.

Bare Essentials Skincare Set (link here).

Althea Unboxing (link here).

And also some unboxings on YouTube.

So they came out with something called their 10 second mask and I received it in the Althea Angels welcome box.

The outer packaging. Very simple and clean like their previous products. I like that!

Description is all in Korean but Google translate app can help you do that!

Steps to Google translate using pictures.

The product. The stuff floating in it is mesmerising.

It has a very gel-like consistency.

Description: A face mask that is marketed as 10 second application. Comes in 150 ml product and in two versions, green tea and rose.

Ingredients:

Green Tea version

Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Potassium Cocoyl Glycinate, Acrylates Copolymer, Peg-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Piper Methysticum Leaf/Root/Stem Extract, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Phellodendron Amurense Bark Extract, Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, Coccinia Indica Fruit Extract, Solanum Melongena (Eggplant) Fruit Extract, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Pteris Multifida Extract, Cynara Scolymus (Artichoke) Leaf Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Flower Extract, Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract, Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract, Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Corallina Officinalis Extract, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Powder, Methylpropanediol, Butylene Glycol, Polyquaternium-51, Beta-Glucan, Betaine, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol

Rose version

Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Potassium Cocoyl Glycinate, Acrylates Copolymer, Peg-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Pteris Multifida Extract, Cynara Scolymus (Artichoke) Leaf Extract, Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract, Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract, Rosa Centifolia Flower Water, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Rosa Gallica Flower Powder, Methylpropanediol, Butylene Glycol, Polyquaternium-51, Beta-Glucan, Betaine, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol

Price: MYR 43 (also comes in a bundle of two at MYR 77)

Where to buy:

Online exclusive at https://althea.kr/

Country specific link for Malaysia at https://my.althea.kr/

Pros:

It is idiot proof to use and since all you need to do is leave it on for 10 seconds, there’s no reason to not use it. It’s as easy as washing your face!

Skin felt softer after use.

Skin felt more hydrated after use.

Skincare afterwards went on much smoother!

Cons:

I didn’t notice a marked difference in my skin besides feeling hydrated and refreshed i.e. difference was too subtle to notice (my skincare yielded almost the same results with or without using this and funny enough, my current skincare routine is by Althea which is their Bare Essentials line; review link here).

Notes:

It is pretty heavily fragranced and although it doesn’t linger, it might be initially off putting to some people. I personally loved the scent as it seemed very natural.

As does every mask, all I felt with this was a refreshing feeling afterwards.

Rating:

7.8/10

Perhaps someone with a drier skin type or a different skin type than mine might benefit more.

ID.AZ Clay Mask Review

I can’t believe I’ve been sent products available at Watsons to review! I feel like a real beauty blogger!!!

The brand is part of the Id Healthcare Group which was initiated by Korean doctor Sang Hoon Park. What started off as hospital known as Id Hospital focusing on facial contouring, then grew into a plastic surgery empire. They decided to venture into cosmetics for people turning down surgery as an option due to the psychological effects. Hence, Placosmetics was born. The ID.AZ name on the packaging (as you’ll see below) stands for the brand name (ID) and the latter half refers to A to Z as in all encompassing (AZ). It goes without saying that this is K-beauty.

These products were sent to me by The Butterfly Project, whom also sent me the Bare Essentials products to review (post link here). Do check out that post to find out all about them! I got four clay masks, two of which I put to the test and two more which I am putting into a giveaway (look out for that).

The products. The two I used were the hydrating and the pore clean mask. Fun fact; the tubes are actually translucent so the colour you’re seeing is actually the colour of the mask.

Description: Clay masks that come in 150 grams or 5.29 oz of product. Comes in 4 varieties, i.e., hydrating, pore clean, brightening, and oil control. You only need to leave this on for 5 minutes and presto, wash and you’re done. The packaging does say you can leave it on until 10 minutes, so that would be your prerogative.

Where to buy: This is exclusive to Watsons Malaysia

Price: MYR 59

The first two below I did NOT test out.

Brightening Mask

Brightening Mask.

The back of the tube has all the details.

Ingredients list: Water, Kaolin, Bentonite, Calamine, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Glyceryl Stearate, Pentylene Glycol, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Chondrus Crispus Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugarcane) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Water, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Nymphaea Alba Flower Extract, Tromethamine, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Caprylyl Glycol, Cellulose Gum, Polyacrylamide, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Sodium Palmitoyl Proline, Laureth-7, Myristic Acid, Arachidic Acid, Lauric Acid, Oleic Acid, 1,2-Hexanediol, Butylene Glycol, Montmorillonite, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance(Parfum), Iron Oxides (CI 77492), Mica (CI 77019)

Oil Control Mask

The colour is white but it appear a tiny bit blue due to editing.

Ingredients list: Water, Kaolin, Bentonite, Calamine, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Glyceryl Stearate, Pentylene Glycol, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Chondrus Crispus Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugarcane) Extract, Chlorella Vulgaris Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Camellia Japonica Flower Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Glycerin, Tromethamine, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Caprylyl Glycol, Cellulose Gum, Polyacrylamide, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Canadian Colloidal Clay, Ethylhexylglycerin, Laureth-7, Myristic Acid, Butyl Avocadate, Arachidic Acid, Butylene Glycol, Lauric Acid, Oleic Acid, Vinegar, Maltodextrin, Propyl Gallate, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance(Parfum), Chromium Oxide Greens (CI 77288)

On to the ones that I DID use; I tried out the Hydrating and the Pore Clean mask. It is as simple as applying it onto the skin and waiting for 5 minutes before washing and proceeding with usual skincare routine.

I was never going to do a cutesy shot of my trying out the masks so here we go. A meme instead. #funnymaskmeme

Hyrdrating mask

You can probably see parts where the product is not sticking to the tube thus proving my claims earlier that the tube is translucent and the colour is due to the product itself.

Water, Kaolin, Bentonite, Calamine, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Glyceryl Stearate, Pentylene Glycol, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Chondrus Crispus Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugarcane) Extract, Punica Granatum Extract, Leontopodium Alpinum Flower/Leaf Extract, Prunus Persica (Peach) Flower Extract, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit Extract, Glycerin, Tromethamine, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Caprylyl Glycol, Cellulose Gum, Polyacrylamide, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Moroccan Lava Clay, Butylene Glycol, Laureth-7, Myristic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Arachidic Acid, Lauric Acid, Oleic Acid, Montmorillonite, Squalane, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance(Parfum), Iron Oxides (CI 77491), Mica (CI 77019)

See! I told you!

Pros:

Easy to use because it only takes 5 minutes.

Application is easy and dries fast.

A tonne of product for the price!

Skin feels smoother.

A tiny reduction of pore size (this is funny considering the one meant for this function didn’t do this).

My skincare (serum, moisturiser etc) goes on and absorbs ve after using this.

Cons:

Leaves a white cast right after washing it off (this is easily explained by the titanium dioxide).

Dries out the skin a tiny bit.

And by that extension, it doesn’t really hydrate the skin.

Rating: 7.2/10

This was underwhelming more than anything because I expected results with all the ingredients in it.

Pore Clean mask

The colour is actually grey, it’s just appearing blue due to the editing.

Water, Kaolin, Glycerin, Bentonite, Calamine, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Glyceryl Stearate, Pentylene Glycol, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Chondrus Crispus Extract, Saccharum Officinarum(Sugarcane) Extract, Saccharomyces Ferment, Sea Silt Extract, Charcoal Powder, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract, Rosa Multiflora Fruit Extract, Rubus Fruticosus (Blackberry) Fruit Extract, Tromethamine, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Caprylyl Glycol, Cellulose Gum, Polyacrylamide, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Butylene Glycol, Laureth-7, Myristic Acid, Arachidic Acid, Lauric Acid, Oleic Acid, Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance(Parfum), Iron Oxides (CI 77499)

Pros:

Easy to use because it only takes 5 minutes.

Application is easy and dries fast.

A tonne of product for the price!

Skin feels smoother.

My skincare (serum, moisturiser etc) goes on and absorbs so much after using this.

Cons:

Leaves a white cast right after washing it off (easily explained by the titanium dioxide).

Dries out the skin a fair bit.

Didn’t really minimise pores and I DO have pores! But it says pore tightening which is perhaps not the same as pore reducing. Maybe? 😛

Rating: 6.9/10

I preferred the hydrating one to this. And much like the other mask, results were very underwhelming.

Note: There’s a slight burning sensation during and a little bit after using the masks so this is definitely something to take note of.

Bare Essentials by Althea Review

The Butterfly Project (no affiliations to the similar sounding title of a movie), is a Malaysian beauty community for influencers. They work with many beauty brands to bridge companies with bloggers, YouTubers and Instagrammers for product reviews and projects to promote launches and new releases. They also organise community projects to allow networking among local bloggers. I have been a member from the very beginning of my blogging days but this is my very first time being involved in one of their projects.

Here are their links:

Website: http://www.butterflyproject.my/

Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/ButterflyProjectMalaysia/

Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/butterflyproject.my/

So they sent me three products to try from Bare Essentials, a skincare line created by Althea Korea. I’ve mentioned Althea in the past; a Korean based online beauty store that sells an array of K-beauty products. When they celebrated their first anniversary in 2016, PR representatives reached out to me, offering MYR150 in store credit to purchase anything I wanted in exchange for a shout-out on my blog (post link here). So today I review the three-step Korean skincare, Bare Essentials by Althea.

Althea’s links:

Disclaimer: Not sponsored. These products were sent to me in exchange for my honest review. Thoughts are all mine and links provided are not affiliate links (meaning, I don’t make any money from any of the links on this review).

Althea’s outer packaging has always been simple and clean. PS: I always reuse this box.

The stuff inside!

THERE’S A BRAND MIRROR! I feel like a proper influencer now!

Stars of the review.

I love the clean, simple sophisticated packaging!

#1 Contour Cleanser

Description: A foaming cleanser that comes in 150g or 5.29 oz. of product. It is supposed to containt micro capsules that is supposed to help with exfoliating and is infused with ice plant and lemon myrtle extracts.

Ingredients list: (this is something new I am going to be doing with all my skincare reviews, do check out my past reviews as well for this update)

Where to buy: Althea website (link above)

Product

It definitely foams up a lot more than apparent here.

Pros:

AFFORDABLE!!!!!!!!

Does a good job cleansing the face.

A little goes a long way.

The tiny beads are so tiny that they’re almost indistinguishable but it works and they are not plastic beads which means they dissolve.

Fragrance is not too overpowering.

Skin feels fresh.

Cons:

Has a tiny bit of a tight feeling after cleansing.

Rating: 8.6/10

This is  a good cleanser for the price! I would definitely consider purchasing this myself.

#2 Primer Water

Description: 2-in-1 product; a toner and a primer in one. Comes in 200 ml or 6.76 fl. oz. product. Infused with snow water extract and apparently there’s a patented dew drop technology that helps absorption.

Ingredients list:

Water,Propanediol,Diphenylsiloxy Phenyl Trimethicone,Alcohol,1,2-Hexanediol,Salvia Hispanica Seed Extract,Centella Asiatica Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract,Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer,Tromethamine,Betaine,Fructooligosaccharides, Saccharide Hydrolysate,Xanthan Gum,Ethylhexylglycerin,Pullulan,Butylene Glycol,Dipropylene Glycol,Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Saussurea Involucrata Extract,Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract,Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Origanum Vulgare Extract,Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Extract,Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Sclerotium Gum,Agar,Polysorbate 20,PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil,Fragrance

Price: MYR 43

Where to buy: Althea (link above)

Clear thick liquid.

Pros:

Absorbs well.

Good amount of product for the price.

Skin was hydrated and it feels really good on the skin.

There was a surprising evening out of my skin texture which was very surprising to me!

A little product is enough to cover the entire face.

Cons:

It is pretty heavily fragranced which, although goes away after a while, is pretty strong upon initial application.

It takes a while to absorb into the skin.

Rating: 8.5/10

Another surprisingly good product! And at MYR 43, hey, I may even consider purchasing it!!!

# Fixer Cream

Frosted glass jar, I LOVE!

Description: A moisturiser that comes in 50 g or 1.76 oz. of product. Contains trehalose which apparently locks in moisture, wild green tea extracts which has potent antioxidants, and baobab tree extract which apparently promotes collagen in the skin.

Ingredients list:

Water,Glycerin,Methylpropanediol,Dimethicone,Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil,Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14 Olefin),Cyclopentasiloxane,Glyceryl Stearate, 1,2-Hexanediol,Cetearyl Alcohol,Polysorbate 60,PEG-100 Stearate,Cyclohexasiloxane,Salvia Hispanica Seed Extract,Centella Asiatica Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract,Carbomer,Tromethamine,Polyacrylate-13,Fructooligosaccharides, Saccharide Hydrolysate,Polyisobutene,Propanediol,Ethylhexylglycerin,Pullulan,Disodium EDTA,Polysorbate 20,Butylene Glycol, Sorbitan Isostearate,Trehalose,Sodium Hyaluronate,Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract,Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Imperata Cylindrica Root Extract,Opuntia Ficus-Indica Stem Extract,Adansonia Digitata Seed Extract,Fragrance

Price: MYR 50

Where to buy: Althea (link above)

Product.

Pros:

Provides amazing moisturisation and hydration.

Absorbs well into the skin.

My face feels smoother and bouncier when I use this.

For something so hydrating, and with so many oils, my face doesn’t oil up.

Cons:

The tub is something I am not a fan of. I hate digging into it and it doesn’t come with a spatula.

It takes a while to absorb into the skin

Rating: 8.5/10

Again, I am really surprised! Would definitely consider purchasing myself!

NOTE! PLEASE READ!!!

This three step skincare is so easy and affordable that even disinterested MEN can use it!!! Trust me, men like that often skip skincare because it may be cumbersome. This is a no brainer. Leave all of it in the bathroom! Right after bathing, your man, brother, father, uncle, stepdad, stepuncle, stepbrother, cousins (once, twice, thrice removed), neighbour (OR YOU if you’re the man), can wash the face, and lazily slap two things on their face. No rhyme, or nothing complicated. This would be a great way to get someone who’s lazy about skincare to just do something about it…

J. One Skincare Review (by Beureka)

HAPPY CHRISTMAS GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Christmas on a Monday! An extra holiday here in Malaysia!

Wishing you all a warm and wonderful Christmas!

These products were sent to me by a company called Beureka, which was started by men (two Singaporeans actually)! Well, there’s were I relate!

They offer a wide array of beauty products with a focus on Asian and Korean brands. The products that were sent to me is by a high end brand called J.One which has been available in Sephora US for a while now.

Disclaimer: I was sent these products to review but opinions are entirely mine.

I’ll attach all links to Beureka at the end of the post.

I received four products; 2 masks, a makeup primer and a cream.

First the makeup base.

Description: A clear jelly like leave on mask that has anti-aging properties, and acts as a makeup primer. Comes in 50 ml (1.69 fl. oz) of product, complete with a pump.

Price: SGD 42.00 (excluding shipping and as of 25th December 2017, the exchange rate for SGD to MYR is 1 to 3.03, so the product costs MYR 127.37)

Where to buy: Beureka (details at the end of the review)

Pump!!! Yes!

The product

Leaves a dewy finish on the skin without feeling oily.

Pros:

Leaves a tacky surface for product to cling on.

Scentless.

Easy to work with.

PUMP, YES!!!

Hydrates and moisturises skin (in fact, it seems to almost trap moisture on the skin).

Prevents makeup from settling into lines (not entirely but, it would make a phenomenal difference for someone with wrinkles).

Cons:

Price (obviously a con for a cheapo like me HOWEVER, Beureka rates are amazing; this one is sold at Sephora US for USD 42 and since 1USD = 1.34SGD, it makes this product CHEAPER on Beureka).

Didn’t really smooth out pores.

Made my skin oil up at the end of its run, more than if I didn’t wear a primer at all (nothing too bad).

Rating: 8/10

Now here’s why I am giving it an 8. I don’t particularly have skin that makeup slides off. In fact, my skin holds on to makeup like no other! I wear primers for pore refining and oil control. However, working on people with different types of skin, I can say that there are people with skin so smooth that makeup actually doesn’t stick on and so for people like that, this product would be a Godsend!

Description: Lotion like cream that come in individual beads. 20 grams (o.7 oz) of product and comes with a tiny plastic spatula.

Price: SGD 58 (converts to MYR 176.01 as of 25th December 2017)

Where to buy: Beureka (details at the end of the review)

The product inside.

The plastic spatula.

I find it very satisfying picking individual beads for every use. I need to use about 3 beads for my large face.

Pros:

Easy to use.

Extremely hygienic since the fingers don’t go digging into the pot and the spatula can be easily cleaned.

Works well!

As moisturising as it was, my face doesn’t oil up and found that very fascinating!

Absorbs very easily into the skin.

Definitely made my skin smoother (nothing phenomenal but for the short amount of time I used it, I was amazed).

Cons:

Price.

I need 3 whole beads for my face.

Note: This is fragranced and pretty heavily I might add. So that may be a concern.

Rating: 8.5/10

I LOVE this thing! Best part is the fragrance which is very nostalgic for me.

The mask was refreshing at best. There are two parts to the mask. Step one is a sheet mask and step two is a jelly lotion that felt very much like the J.One Jelly Pack. The mask isn’t available on the website as of the time of this review but you’re welcome to check back on Beureka. I found a source that lists it at USD 3.80.

Rating: 6/10

Refreshing.

So about the company.

Beureka at https://beureka.com/

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wearebeureka

Instagram: wearebeureka

I implore you to compare prices because the J.One products are much cheaper on Beureka than even the Sephora US website. So I am sure there are good bargains! They have perfumes, skincare and some makeup too. Mostly high end and luxury brands.

For Malaysia, they offer a flat rate of SGD 12 for every order. So perhaps pool order with a couple of friends???

Elianto Face Powder Brush (H) (01S) Review

[UPDATED REVIEW]

Elianto is a brand name that gets mentioned a lot on my blog and I do love a lot of their products because they’re so cheap! I have reviewed products from Elianto in the past here (mascara) and here (makeup brush). Today I shall review the Elianto Face Powder Brush.

The product. The fact that it comes with a brush guard is a huge plus point!

Bristles.

The bristles are very loosely packed.

Very soft.

Description:

Large face powder brush.

Bristles: Synthetic, loosely packed long fibres. It is extremely soft and the colour gradually darkens at the tip.

Ferrule: Metal ferrule with a glossy black finish.

Handle: Black finish wooden handle (I’m assuming).

Price: MYR 35.90 but Elianto constantly offers discounts so watch out for them!

Where to buy: Elianto counters nationwide and from their E-store at elianto.biz.

Pros:

Soft, really really soft!

Because of its long fibres and the fact that is it loosely packed, it is efficient in picking up powder and dusting it on the face very effortless.

The brush guard!!! That is highly appreciated!

It has not shed or frayed thus far and I’ve had it for years.

The ferrule and handle are sturdy.

Cons:

Cleaning is a little bit of a pain because it is a larger brush.

Ratings

9/10

I love this brush. It is a good brush to dust bronzer or powder and also dust off excess powder from the face. If one is skilled enough even blusher can be applied using this brush.

Silkygirl Hydra Clean Makeup Remover Review

[UPDATED REVIEW]

Silkygirl happens to be one of my favourite drugstore brands here in Malaysia. I have reviewed their products in the past here, here, and here. Today is a review of the Hydra Clean makeup remover.

The product.

Description on the back of the bottle.

Screw cap bottle.

It is lotion-like with a very runny consistency.

Description: It is a lotion type makeup remover that contains Vitamin E, chamomile and aloe vera extract.

Where to buy: All major drugstores and supermarkets that have the Silkygirl stand.

Price: MYR 18.90 for 165ml and MYR 10.90 for 100ml (as with everything at the drugstore, wait for a discount or promotion!)

Effectiveness.

Concealer, liquid foundation, powder, eyeshadow, liner, lipstick, liquid lipstick (swatched on skin), waterproof mascara (also swatched on skin).

All the makeup dissolved.

The liquid lipstick was work, and you can clearly see some mascara residue. Everything else came off pretty easily.

Pros:

It is pretty good at removing makeup.

Does not leave a sticky residue.

Skin feels fresh after makeup removal.

It has a nice soft scent.

It is definitely hydrating.

Cons:

The directions say that you need to rinse off with water which is another tiresome step for me.

The biggest con for me which is going to affect the rating of this product is the fact that my skin has a burning sensation after using this, especially around the eyes. It feels like I have rubbed my face hard, repeatedly when in fact, I haven’t.

Ratings;

4/10

I have used this in the past with no problems, however, my skin has definitely changed and with that the big con has become a deterrent for me to continue using this product. This is actually my second bottle of it which I purchased after having enjoyed the first one, but alas. 😦

Silkygirl Natural Brow Pencil Review

[UPDATED REVIEW]

I have reviewed several Silkygirl’s products (two mascaras here and here, makeup remover here, chubby stick here, and a retractable eyeliner here) and also put it in my top 5 most affordable Malaysian drugstore makeup brand (here).

This review is on the Silkygirl Natural Brow Pencil.

The product.

Name and code.

Description and ingredients.

Up close of the nib.

Swatch.

Description: Eyebrow pencil. Comes in two colours, 01 Soft Black and 02 Dark Brown. There’s a clear cap for protection and comes in 1.14 grams or about 0.04 oz.

Where to buy: Most drugstores and supermarket/hypermarkets in Malaysia.

Price: MYR 10.90 (it’s drugstore so wait for promos!!)

Bare brows.

For a black pencil (if used properly) it’s quite natural looking!

Pros:

It is cheap!

Black eyebrow pencil that isn’t too black so it has a natural finish.

Stays put (doesn’t just melt away with sweating).

Cons:

Very stiff and dry.

I never liked sharpening.

No spoolie.

Tip/Hack:

Use your hair dryer to slightly heat up stiff and dry eyebrow pencil to allow ease of application. Just a few seconds of exposure to the hot air will slightly loosen the product.

Rating;

6.8/10

It is a basic eyebrow pencil that I like because it matches my eyebrow colour. It may or may not work for you so discretion advised!

Chu Lip, Lip Balm Review

[UPDATED REVIEW]

This is going to be a short review because I have already written a first impression post on it (here). Here are some pictures! The one I have here is Apple Ginger and Tea Rose flavour.

So cute!

Easy to open tab! This packaging is one you will not complain about being difficult to open.

Love that lip shaped indent!

It used to be a perfect round dome!

Description: A egg-shaped lip balm enriched with olive oil, macademia nut oil, and rosehip oil. It doesn’t have any colour or tint to it. It has a lovely fruity flavour and tastes slightly sweet.

Price: Anywhere between MYR 15 to 25.90 depending on where you buy it and factoring in discounts.

Where to buy: Major drugstores like Watsons and Guardian.

Pros:

It glides on the lips smoothly.

It hydrates, soothes (because there is menthol added) and moisturises.

It smells and tastes pleasant.

It effectively remedies cracked lips.

Does not feel waxy or uncomfortable on the lips.

Cons:

The screw-cap has to be handled rather carefully because it can scrape the product and can be potentially over-tightened, spoiling the snap lock mechanism.

Ratings:

9/10

It is a fantastic lip balm! What else can I say?
