Essence Lip Liner Review

(Initially I intended to just reblog but I see more use reverting it to draft, improving the post and then publishing it as a new one.)

[UPDATED REVIEW]

Essence is a company based in Germany that produces quality products at VERY affordable prices! And among their best products and definitely the most affordable ones are their lipliners (I am OBVIOUSLY giving it a high rating).

So pretty!!!

So pretty!!!

The shade names. Obviously I don't have all the available shades.

Ooooo, so pretty!!!

Ooooo, so pretty!!!

And here come the swatches.

Jpeg

Description; A standard lipliner pencil. Comes in 1 gram / 0.035 oz product.

Price; MYR 7.30 (I usually say wait for a discount but at MYR 7.30, come on!).

Where to buy; Watsons and Mydin

Pros;

Very nicely pigmented.

Very opaque so it will even out hyper-pigmentation on the lips. Both lips will turn out the same colour with this lipliner (if applied all over the lips)!

Glides on smoothly without tugging on the lips.

Does not feather.

Leaves a stain on the lips even after it wears out.

Does not dry out the lips.

Lightweight on the lips so you’d feel like you’re hardly wearing anything.

The price is a huge plus point!

No strong odour or taste.

Cons;

It is not very long lasting.

It isn’t smudge-proof or budge-proof (meaning; it will fade away with eating and licking your lips).

Double con here is that it is a pencil so it needs to be sharpened  and sharpening is tricky since it is so creamy.

Note:

These are very very creamy and that may be something not everyone enjoys. I do know the preference for a drier formula that perhaps lasts longer.

It is a pain to sharpen; can be worked around by placing the pen in the freezer for about 10 minutes…

Rating: 9/10

It’s a preference thing! I love that these are as creamy as they are. Love ’em!

Nivea Essential Care, Lip Balm Review

This is going to be another short review about another lip balm. I love lip balms! I have reviewed 3 lip balms thus far (here, here, and here). It is the one thing that I always end up finishing in my makeup stash. This lip balm is quite a popular one by Nivea and you may have seen it, well, everywhere!

Pictures! 🙂

I just started saving cardboard packaging because they tend to contain information. Clear plastic is a little more tricky to save or properly tear off in the first place.

The balm.

Description:

It is a lip balm that contains shea butter that claims to protect lips from drying out. It appears white in the tube and swatches translucent.

Price: Retails for MYR 10.90 (prices could possible be lower with special discounts or offers and also depending on where you buy it).

Where to buy: It is available in most places that sell lip balm (almost every drugstore/pharmacy/hypermarket).

Pros:

It goes on very smoothly.

Has a nice vanilla scent.

Hasn’t caused me any problems or allergies.

Does prevent lips from drying out.

Cons:

It feels very waxy and so it can seem very heavy on the lips.

Melts with heat easily so caution needs to be exercised when traveling with it.

Note:

There are a few other things to note with this particular lip balm which I don’t really seem to have noticed with the three others I have reviewed. Some may appreciate it, others may not;

-It appear very glossy on the lips.

-The consistency almost feels like lip gloss on the lips once on.

-Application results in a thick layer of product on the lips.

7.1/10

This is one of those products that if you like how it feels, you’ll like it. If you don’t then you’d hate it. So, it really depends. I have tried to give you as much information as I can so it is your prerogative!

The product. I am only halfway through with the purple base already showing. And it has been several months since I’ve bought it.

Description:

It is a lip balm therapy that contains camphor for healing dry and chapped lips. It appears white in the tube and swatches translucent. It comes with SPF15.

Price: Anywhere between MYR 10-12 depending on where you buy it and factoring in discounts (prices could possible be lower with special discounts or offers).

Where to buy: It is available in most places that sell lip balm (basically almost every drugstore/pharmacy).

Pros:

It does provide the tingling sensation that is related to camphor and thus, soothes skin.

It relieves chapped and dry lips really well.

No strong taste or smell.

Hasn’t caused me any problems or allergies.

Cons:

It feels very waxy and so it can seem very heavy on the lips. After the tingly feeling fades away all you would want to do is just wipe it off.

It tends to be difficult to apply onto cold lips especially if you are in air conditioning for long periods of time. I am guessing that the product (or the lips) needs to be warmed up to sort of melt it a little bit so that it glides more smoothly.

Rating:

7.5/10

Nothing groundbreaking or exceptional but it does live up to its claims. I feel the pros only just outweigh the cons.

Maybelline Baby Lips, Lip Balm Review

This is a short review about the Maybelline Baby Lips, lip balm.

The balm

The balm

Although there is a pinkish tint, the colour does not show up on the lips.

Although there is a pinkish tint, the colour does not show up on the lips.

It’s a lip balm in Protecting Berry with a slightly pink tint. It is tasteless but has a fruity, sweet fragrance.

Price: It is anywhere between MYR 7-12 depending on where you get it and discounts (prices can possibly be lower with special discounts or offers).

Where to buy: It is available in most places that sell lip balms i.e. drugstores, Watsons, Guardian, hypermarkets etc.

Pros:

It glides on like a dream.

Hydrates, moisturises, and softens your lips.

Great for dry lips.

Hasn’t caused me any problems or allergies.

Cons:

It can feel a little waxy when over-applied.

Do not leave it in warm surroundings because it can and will melt!

Rating: 8/10

It is cheap, effective and it’s by Maybelline! A good tip is to apply this on your lips before you exfoliate. It does wonders!!!
