Silkygirl Natural Brow Pencil Review

[UPDATED REVIEW]

I have reviewed several Silkygirl’s products (two mascaras here and here, makeup remover here, chubby stick here, and a retractable eyeliner here) and also put it in my top 5 most affordable Malaysian drugstore makeup brand (here).

This review is on the Silkygirl Natural Brow Pencil.

The product.

Name and code.

Description and ingredients.

Up close of the nib.

Swatch.

Description: Eyebrow pencil. Comes in two colours, 01 Soft Black and 02 Dark Brown. There’s a clear cap for protection and comes in 1.14 grams or about 0.04 oz.

Where to buy: Most drugstores and supermarket/hypermarkets in Malaysia.

Price: MYR 10.90 (it’s drugstore so wait for promos!!)

Bare brows.

For a black pencil (if used properly) it’s quite natural looking!

Pros:

It is cheap!

Black eyebrow pencil that isn’t too black so it has a natural finish.

Stays put (doesn’t just melt away with sweating).

Cons:

Very stiff and dry.

I never liked sharpening.

No spoolie.

Tip/Hack:

Use your hair dryer to slightly heat up stiff and dry eyebrow pencil to allow ease of application. Just a few seconds of exposure to the hot air will slightly loosen the product.

Rating;

6.8/10

It is a basic eyebrow pencil that I like because it matches my eyebrow colour. It may or may not work for you so discretion advised!

Elianto Nose Shading Brush Review (H) (07P)

[UPDATED REVIEW]

NOTE; THIS PRODUCT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE ON THE WEBSITE.

Elianto is a cosmetic brand with items sourced from countries like Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Korea. Prices are hard to beat for the quality of their products and the brand is rather popular in Malaysia. This is a review of the Elianto shading brush [Nose Shading Brush (H) (07P)]. Although it is called a nose shading brush, it looks a lot like a small pencil brush.

The brush.

Bristles close up.

Comparison with H&M blending brush (on the left; which is about the size of a standard blending brush like Zoeva) and a tiny lip brush by Bloop Cosmetics (on the right).

This picture was from the original post because I discarded the package. It’s pretty nice and sturdy actually.

And the description on the back. This was also an old picture. It has been edited to my best of ability. 😛

Description;

Bristles: Pony hair and slightly tapered towards the tip. Bristle colour gradually darkens at the tip. Very loosely packed; more like a blending brush rather than a pencil brush.

Ferrule: Metal with a shiny finish.

Handle: No information about this (I am assuming it is wooden). It has a matte finish and is quite sturdy.

Price: MYR 19.90 (Elianto often has discounts, so this price is subject to discounts and offers).

Where to buy: Elianto counters nationwide.

Pros:

The price is amazing for a specialised brush made out of natural hairs.

The ferrule and handle are pretty sturdy.

Does quite a good job at blending although I have never used it for its intended purpose (nose shading).

Perfect for precise blending because it is so small and loosely packed.

Cons:

The bristles initially shed because of the fact that it is made of natural hair.

A lot more goes into caring for them (not beginner friendly). I use a gentle two in one shampoo and conditioner. Also takes a longer time to clean and dry.

I am completely on the fence with this one and it is entirely your choice to make a decision.

Chu Lip, Lip Balm Review

[UPDATED REVIEW]

This is going to be a short review because I have already written a first impression post on it (here). Here are some pictures! The one I have here is Apple Ginger and Tea Rose flavour.

So cute!

Easy to open tab! This packaging is one you will not complain about being difficult to open.

Love that lip shaped indent!

It used to be a perfect round dome!

Description: A egg-shaped lip balm enriched with olive oil, macademia nut oil, and rosehip oil. It doesn’t have any colour or tint to it. It has a lovely fruity flavour and tastes slightly sweet.

Price: Anywhere between MYR 15 to 25.90 depending on where you buy it and factoring in discounts.

Where to buy: Major drugstores like Watsons and Guardian.

Pros:

It glides on the lips smoothly.

It hydrates, soothes (because there is menthol added) and moisturises.

It smells and tastes pleasant.

It effectively remedies cracked lips.

Does not feel waxy or uncomfortable on the lips.

Cons:

The screw-cap has to be handled rather carefully because it can scrape the product and can be potentially over-tightened, spoiling the snap lock mechanism.

Ratings:

9/10

It is a fantastic lip balm! What else can I say?

IN2IT Line Define (Matte Liquid Eyeliner) Review

[UPDATED REVIEW]

IN2IT is a cosmetic brand registered under Hong Kong based Asia Pacific Cosmetics Corporation but the products are developed in Southeast Asia using technology from Germany and Japan. The products are affordable and pretty widespread in Malaysia.

With Vaseline for the oil test. It does stay put but a little rubbing does move the product a little which isn't too bad.

Liner used with this makeup.

Description: It is a liquid eyeliner with a brush applicator that dries down to a matte finish. Among the colours that I could see were, black, blue and brown. They also come in a box of two, one black and one coloured (buy 1 get 1 free). The one in this review is LM01 (all black). IN2IT claims that the liner has a peel off formula that is easy to remove.

Price: MYR 15.90 (the price is subject to in-store discounts and offers).

Where to buy: All major drugstores; Watsons, Guardian, and even Sasa.

Pros:

Long wearing (but I don’t have oily eyelids so this should be taken into account).

Does not come off with sweating (because I danced and perspired with it).

The thin brush applicator allows for detailed work.

Very cost efficient!

Hasn’t irritated my eye upon application and prolonged wear (I don’t have sensitive eyes and this ought to be taken into consideration as well).

Cons:

Because it can be easily removed, rubbing your eyes will cause the liner to flake off and fallout.

The formula doesn’t dry very fast and thus can be tricky for beginners (more so because it is a liquid liner).

Ratings:

7.5/10

I personally LOVE this product because it is very cost efficient and drugstore brands like this are constantly going on sale. In addition to that, this liner works well with my dance makeup because it does not melt when I perspire. However, I didn’t give it a higher score because, since it does have an easy-to-remove formula, rubbing your eyes with this eyeliner on is going result in fallout and missing gaps in your eyeliner. The other reason for not giving it a higher score was because liquid eyeliners aren’t usually very user friendly and especially if it has a very wet formula that doesn’t dry fast. So, make your choice! One of these two outcomes may happen; it will be MYR 15 that you’ll never get back or a discovery of a holy grail product.

Maybelline Color Sensational Bold Matte Lipstick Review

[UPDATED REVIEW]

This is a review for the Color Sensational Bold Matte Lipstick and I have the shade Mat6 (Maroon Red) which is the darkest red colour in the line. There are 4 other shades in this range, Mat2 (Sugar Pink), Mat 4 (Vivid Coral), Mat5 (Bold Red), and Mat7 (Nude Beige). I would advice deep, warm, Indian skin toned people like myself to avoide Mat2 and Mat7; these two colours will wash you out! I chose this colour because a deep red colour on the lips is a common constitute of classical Indian dance makeup.

This is another picture taken in which I was wearing the lipstick. However, its tiny because this is a cropped picture from a group shot. You can still see that the lipstick is still there. This picture was taken AFTER a performance which attests to its staying power.

This is a picture taken in which I was wearing the lipstick. I apologise for the tiny picture because this is actually a group shot that I cropped. You can see that the lipstick is still there. This picture was taken AFTER a performance which attests to its staying power.

Description: It is a long lasting matte lipstick that is devoid of taste and scent. There’s 4.2g of product in it; similar to the other Color Sensational lipsticks. The shade Mat6 is a deep maroon red colour which will flatter many skin tones albeit difference in intensity. It also does not appear completely matte.

Price: Anywhere between MYR 17 to 32 depending on where you buy and factoring in discounts.

Where to buy: Anywhere there’s a Maybelline booth set up; Watsons, Guardian, Caring, Tesco, Aeon…

Pros:

It glides on smoothly and does not tug on the lips AT ALL!

Highly HIGHLY pigmented!

VERY opaque; it is a swipe-one-layer-to-get-colour-payoff kind of lipstick.

Long lasting and as you have already seen, it leaves a stain on the lips.

Comfortable on the lips.

Does not emphasize fine lines and dry patches on the lips.

Cons:

It is not smudge proof and hence will transfer.

When wearing dark lipsticks that transfer, lipstick stain on the teeth is a highly possible phenomenon, as is with this lipstick.

Rating:

8.6/10

I simply LOVE this lipstick! When using it I’ll usually do the suck-a-finger trick to remove excess product from my inner lips to avoid teeth stains!

Bioré Perfect Cleansing Water (Makeup Remover) Review

[UPDATED REVIEW]

Bioré is a cosmetics brand that predominantly focuses on skincare. It is owned by the Japan based company Kao Corporation. Kao Malaysia has been established since 1973. The Bioré Perfect Cleansing Water is supposedly created with micelle technology that would dissolve and remove makeup (including waterproof mascara) gently without the need to tug on your skin. It is also alcohol-free, oil-free, colourant-free and fragrance-free. All great for sensitive skin.

I have concealer, foundation, powder, liquid liner, eyeshadows, mascara, lipstick and liquid lipstick.

Soaked for about 10 seconds and gently swiped off. Pretty amazing huh? The matte liquid lipstick is still there though.

Pros:

It does the job quite effectively. However, removing matte liquid lipsticks requires a little more effort.

It leaves the skin feeling fresh and hydrated.

Does not have a sticky after feel as with some cleansing waters.

Doesn’t have an annoying scent or anything like that.

Cons:

It tastes BITTER!!! (If you have used it on the lips to remove long wearing lipsticks or matte liquid lipsticks, I’d suggest rinsing your mouth first before you do anything else. If you accidentally lick your lips after having used this you are going to regret it. This cleansing water tastes bitter! Very bitter!)

After using it for some time, it has started to irritate my eyes.

This previously had a rating >8 but I have deducted points because it now hurts my eyes…

Essence Lip Liner Review

(Initially I intended to just reblog but I see more use reverting it to draft, improving the post and then publishing it as a new one.)

[UPDATED REVIEW]

Essence is a company based in Germany that produces quality products at VERY affordable prices! And among their best products and definitely the most affordable ones are their lipliners (I am OBVIOUSLY giving it a high rating).

So pretty!!!

So pretty!!!

The shade names. Obviously I don't have all the available shades.

Ooooo, so pretty!!!

Ooooo, so pretty!!!

And here come the swatches.

Jpeg

Description; A standard lipliner pencil.

Price; MYR 7.30 (I usually say wait for a discount but at MYR 7.30, come on!).

Where to buy; Watsons and Mydin

Pros;

Very nicely pigmented.

Very opaque so it will even out hyper-pigmentation on the lips. Both lips will turn out the same colour with this lipliner (if applied all over the lips)!

Glides on smoothly without tugging on the lips.

Does not feather.

Leaves a stain on the lips even after it wears out.

Does not dry out the lips.

Lightweight on the lips so you’d feel like you’re hardly wearing anything.

The price is a huge plus point!

No strong odour or taste.

Cons;

It is not very long lasting.

It isn’t smudge-proof or budge-proof (meaning; it will fade away with eating and licking your lips).

Double con here is that it is a pencil so it needs to be sharpened  and sharpening is tricky since it is so creamy.

Note:

These are very very creamy and that may be something not everyone enjoys. I do know the preference for a drier formula that perhaps lasts longer.

It is a pain to sharpen; can be worked around by placing the pen in the freezer for about 10 minutes…

Rating: 9/10

It’s a preference thing! I love that these are as creamy as they are. Love ’em!

Daiso Detergent for Puff and Sponge Review

I have for you today, a miracle worker! A detergent for your makeup sponges. Prepare to be amazed!

Description: It is a soap for cleaning makeup puffs and sponges. I even use them for my brushes. It comes in a squeeze bottle of 80 ml and claims to also disinfect.

Where to buy: Daiso (duh!)

Prize: MYR 5.30

Let me then show you the magic!

Eughh!

Eughh!

AFTER!!!!!!!!

I KNOW RIGHT????? The sponges look as clean as new! No kidding!

Here's a closer look!

No trace of makeup!

No trace of makeup!

Pros:

It cleans like a dream!

Fragrance free.

Disinfecting.

VERY affordable.

Only a few drops is needed on target area (I used only about 10 to 15 drops per sponge).

Cons:

NONE! This is a first on FiercePaint! I did want to say 80ml is too little but, for MYR 5.30 and not forgetting that only a few drops is needed, justifies it!

Rating: 9.8/10

I do believe this is the highest rating I’ve ever given a product! I will never give a product a full 10 but this is damn near perfection!

Wet n Wild MegaLast Lip Color Lipstick Review

I usually review lipsticks in single shades because consistencies may be different with each shade. However it is safe to say that these lipsticks are similar across all shades.

Today I am reviewing the Wet n Wild MegaLast Lip Color lipstick and I have three shades. I previously posted a first impressions post on this lisptick (link here). Apologies for the picture quality on that post; I was just starting out. 😛

Here are some pictures where the lipstick is used.

Smokin’ Hot Pink

Cinnamon Spice

I used it in my latest YouTube video.

Mocha-licious

Used it for a makeup look (post link here).

IMG20160429184029

Pros:

Very VERY pigmented!

Very VERY opaque; one swipe does it kind of lipstick.

Long lasting! VERY long lasting.

Does not emphasize fine lines on the lips.

The range of colours really deserve a mention because their deeper shades are very flattering on dark skin.

Re-application is a breeze.

Cons:

Although VERY affordable it is no where close to the 1.99 USD price tag in USA.

The lipstick tube almost immediately becomes loose and flimsy. Definitely zero points for packaging.

It does dry out the lips a tiny bit.

Not entirely comfortable on the lips (you’ll feel it on the lips).

Rating: 8/10

I love these lipsticks especially Mocha-licious. My perfect nude shade which is near impossible to find at the drugstore!

First Impressions, Silkygirl Expert Brow Slim Liner

Here in Malaysia, a new makeup product release at the drugstore is really exciting to me because that rarely happens. Maybelline released a few good products this year but nothing I wanted to grab immediately and write about. This one from Silkygirl however, I just had to! It has been awhile since I posted a First Impressions post anyway.

If you happen to be a makeup enthusiast, you’d know that this thin retractable brow pen is kind of a trend that’s very popular (and only just catching in Malaysia). So Silkygirl, I guess, decided to hop on this bandwagon.

The product.

The blending was done with the spoolie. And it is a colour that kind of disappears into my skin which is kind of a good match for me.

The blending was done with the spoolie. And it is a colour that kind of disappears into my skin which is kind of a good match for me.

My thoughts:

Based on solely first impressions, I am kind of loving this product so far. But there are a few things I’ve noticed if I nitpick.

The end where the product is dispensed doesn’t come with a cap which may drive some people crazy. Pretty unsettling right? But the head-scratcher is that the spoolie has a cap instead *eyebrows raised*.

With that being said, the spoolie is absolute crap; it’s hard and scratchy.

The amount of product is measly. My other Silkygirl brow pencil has 1.14 g (o.o4 fl.oz.) of product whereas this one has only 0.12g (0.004 fl.oz.).

Price; MYR 20.90 (introductory price of MYR 17.80 till 30th of March 2016)

Where to buy; So far I’ve only seen it at Guardian pharmacy.
