Product Empties #18

I have already reviewed this. Link here.

This is a shimmery green eyeshadow from the brand Savee. It is a local retail brand with really affordable products (almost bordering on cheap) but not really talked about. I crushed this eyeshadow up to use for the NYX Face Awards entry. Ended up using most of it but I did manage to retain some to do a hand swatch.

In terms of performance, it was pretty good for a MYR 2 eyeshadow. It is a local brand and I guess that’s the reason for the price tag. The ingredients are questionable though. I probably wouldn’t repurchase but I do believe these are discontinued and they have a new line of eyeshadows.

I have already reviewed this. Link here.

Purchased because I wanted to redeem the 100 points free sample. Again, I am one of those people who do not see much difference after using a mask! And this was the same. I did like the cooling, almost plumping kind of effect.

This tiny tub is about 3/4 full but I have stopped using it. Here’s the story; there were specific times in the past where my lips would crack and split, making it sting and I used to always dismiss it off as me not being properly hydrated. However, when that happened even with me being hydrated I  started thinking of what I was doing differently and realised it may have been because of this. And so I deliberately experimented and found out that this was the culprit. I know that there has been mixed reviews with this product. Some people swear by it, others didn’t really feel much of a difference. Mine seems to be little more extreme. This would have been a product regret if I did purchase it but this was a gift so no regrets here. Would NOT purchase.

NYX Powder Blush (PB01, Mocha) Review

[UPDATED REVIEW]

I have written a first impressions post on this powder blush here (excuse the poor pictures). This is the review!

The product.

Significantly dented! Yes, I can wear blush have it go undetected or indistinguishable. 🙂

Description and ingredients.

Description;

It is, as the name says, a powder blush in a very muted darker dusty rose colour with a matte finish (PB01 Mocha). The packaging is plastic in a very simple and sleek design. There’s 4 g of product and they come in many different colours and also in both matte and frosty finishes.

Price: MYR 30 at Sephora.

Where to buy: Sephora stores nationwide.

Finger swatch. Picks up better with a brush! Trust me!

Pros:

Well pigmented.

Blends out very seamlessly.

Beginner friendly; you cannot go wrong with this blush.

It can be built up to as thick or as sheer as necessary.

Suitable for a wide array of skin tones (it is especially lovely on my skin tone 😛 ).

Cons:

It doesn’t seem like much on the brush when picked up and, due to that, one may end up picking up too much of the product (as I have done before 😀 😛 ).

Since it is a powder blush it does fade easily if used on top of powder foundation. This blush in particular does not have much staying power; it can yield approximately 4 to 5 hours of use before it begins to fade.

Ratings:

8.1/10

It is a pretty gorgeous blusher and I love it even more since it is matte. My only qualm is its lasting power. However, I am giving it a higher rating because it blends so amazingly and the colour is suitable for many skin tones.

Benefit Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel Review

Yes! Another high end product review! I purchased this last year and completely forgot to put it into a haul.

Benefit is an American based company and all products are made in the USA! This is a review on the very popular Benefit Gimme Brow.

Outer packaging.

Claims on the packaging.

Description, including ingredients. Sorry about the sticker residue on the bottom right.

The product.

Label on the tube.

Wand. It’s really small! And notice the tiny fibers.

Description: Tinted volumising gel for the brows. Comes in 3 grams/0.1 oz product and in three shades, 01 Light, 03 Medium, and 05 Deep.

Where to buy: Sephora outlets nationwide (store list here), Benefit Boutiques (1 Utama, Petaling Jaya; Starhill Gallery, Kuala Lumpur; Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur; Gurney Plaza, Penang).

Price: MYR 125.00, (MYR 145.00 on the Benefit website)

Swatch

Bare brows.

Does make my brows fuller. The tint is showing up a little stronger than it seems in person.

Pros:

Holds brows in place very well!

The colour is good for me (although it may seem a little off in the picture).

Makes brows fuller!

Formula is pretty pigmented for a brow product.

Lasts very well a good 6 to 7 hours of wear before it starts fading and even then product doesn’t just disappear.

Soft, tiny wand for even the sparsest of brows.

Dries fast and matte.

Cons:

Too EXPENSIVE, for 3, THREE grams of product!!!!!

It makes my brows feel a tiny bit stiff although not crunchy.

Not very accessible because Sephora and Benefit stores aren’t available in all states.

Right around the two month mark, the product started smelling funky or perhaps it already does smell like that, I have no idea (but I use it anyway because it doesn’t actually go in my eye).

Rating:

8/10

Do I love this product? HECK YES!!!!!! Will I buy it again? HECK NO!!!!!!!!!

Jpeg

Jpeg

This is the famous Biore pore pack and boy oh boy is it satisfying to use! I don’t have visible black heads and so this isn’t something I need. But just using it and peeling it off is strangely therapeutic. I just wanted to see if I had all that problems on my nose to remove, which I had very little of. Won’t be purchasing this again.

Jpeg

I have a confession to make. As much as I love using face masks, I have never really felt a big difference after using one except being rejuvenated and refreshed. I don’t want to be an unappreciative asshole because this was a gift, but more than feeling refreshed and rejuvenated I didn’t really see a difference with my facial skin after using this.

Jpeg

Give this brand a try I say! Probably one of the best drugstore facial cleansers I have used in a while for its price. It’s MYR 12.90!!! This one in particular has dissolving micro-beads in it. I won’t be repurchasing this one but there’s another I am currently using which I will.

x-default

I have reviewed this (post link here).

Jpeg

I actually liked this brow pencil from Etude House but I dropped it and I’m guessing the product inside broke. Every time I sharpened it, the nib kept breaking off. I whittled it down until I couldn’t sharpen it anymore. Don’t think I will be repurchasing this.

Jpeg

Gone….. ALL gone! See why I don’t like sharpening makeup pencils!!!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara Review

Founded by Jerrod Blandino and Jeremy Johnson, Too Faced boasts products that are paraben free, cruelty free and vegan although I’m guessing not ALL their products are vegan. Today I review the cult favourite Better Than Sex mascara.

This is the travel size one and comes in this box.

Bare lashes.

Two coats.

Two coats.

Pros:

Thickens and lengthens very nicely!

Holds a curl pretty well.

Formula isn’t sticky or gloppy.

Very nice separation.

Doesn’t smudge on me (I don’t have oily eyelids).

Cons:

I DO NOT like the wand. It always hits my eyelids! I can’t get close enough to the bottom of my lashes without the bristles touching my eyelid.

The formula is grainy so at the second coat it the formula kind of balls up in some places.

I get fallout with this mascara.

A full tube costs MYR 90! I would NEVER buy a mascara that costly.

Rating: 6/10

I didn’t really like this mascara because although the effects on the lashes are amazing I cannot deal with the fallout. No… PASS!

Stila Double Ended Blending Sponge Review

Here’s another high end makeup product review…

This is the Stila double ended blending sponge.

The sponge.

It becomes soft and squishy when dampened.

Just to give you an idea of how it performs.

Foundation unblended.

Blended.

Pros:

It is soft.

Flawless makeup application!

Doesn’t soak too much of the product up.

The dual end does help for both a wider application and a more targeted one too.

Pretty affordable considering the other option is the Real Techniques sponge which is, at the cheapest, MYR 45.

Cons:

It ripped when I washed it about the fourth time (I’ll insert a picture below).

It picks up dirt and dust easily.

The tears.

Note:

Although ripped, I can still use it. It still works!

Rating: 8/10

I still want to compare this to other sponges, so this rating may change in the future.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream (04, London) Review

I have been wanting to write this review for a while now because I keep mentioning this product all the time but never actually published a review.

Let’s all agree, although affordable, NYX is rather overpriced here in Malaysia which is why I feel like the dupe I found for it was worth while because the dupe is a third of the price (post here). I even wrote a first impressions post about this (post here). It is also noteworthy that Collection Cosmetics is being pulled from the drugstores in Malaysia (why can’t we never have nice things???)…

Swatch.

Swatch.

Description: It is a liquid to matte type lipstick. The product isn’t entirely liquid, hence the name lip cream. It doesn’t dry down fast like a typical matte liquid lipstick. Comes in 8ml product.

Where to buy: Sephora outlets nationwide.

Price: MYR 30

I used it in one of my recent collaboration to create a summer look. I only use a light layer.

IMG20160429184111

Pros:

Comfortable on the lips.

Opaque (I have rather darker upper lips and it manages to cover it).

Affordable.

Long lasting (a good 4-5 hours before it fades; unless one eats).

These SMLCs comes in a wide range of colours; definitely worth a mention.

Doesn’t reapply too bad.

Cons:

Picks up on dry patches.

Settles into wrinkle on the lips (but doesn’t exaggerate them).

Dries out the lips a bit.

Note:

Something to note is that it doesn’t dry down fast like a liquid lipstick does. The thinner the layer the faster it dries. When it dries down, it does dry down completely matte.

Rating: 8.2/10

I kinda love this product!

Haul; Collective Haul (#11)

I wanted to integrate this with my previous post but I thought I’d just dedicate the previous one to Althea (post link here).

I couldn’t fit everything into one picture. So I broke it down to two; first up, stuff I won.

I won this, from Fiona! AGAIN!!! Hahaha! I think she has a soft spot for me! I won another prize from her a while ago (post here)! Look at all that stuff!!!!! Lip Hop is apparently a Korean brand.

If you want to check out Fiona, you can find her at http://www.street-love.net/ She happens to be a popular Malaysian beauty blogger!

By the way the picture doesn’t include all the products (crazy right?? So many products!); I gave two to mom.
