Product Empties #21

Last product empties of the year! I will be doing a collective 2017 empties in January but for the moment, here is my last for 2017!

The blurred out product had already been featured and I had discarded the other products to be able to retake the picture… Apologies!

I’ve inserted this picture from the review. I am obviously referring to NC42 on the left. It has reduced a lot more since this picture. Review link here.

This is the Collection Cosmetics Moisturising Lip Cream. Extremely similar to the next product and MUCH cheaper! I went so far as to call it a dupe (post link here). Unfortunately, the brand is no longer available here in Malaysia but this was an amazing product. I don’t think I am going out of my way to purchase this. Purchased it for MYR 10.50 (which seems kind of redundant but hey, for reference purposes anyway).

Already reviewed this; link here.

This is the Dabur Vatika Naturals, styling hair cream. I LOVE this stuff!!! My hair was softer, stronger and healthier. You know something is good when you actually feel a difference. However, I didn’t use it for its intended purpose because as much as I loved the initial scent, it would start smelling like pee after it sat for half an hour or so on the hair. I do tend to have dandruff breakouts (well, go ahead, ewwww away, I don’t care. Spoiler alert, I am human!) but it didn’t really do much for the dandruff. The only way my dandruff is cleaned up is if I wash my hair everyday without fail and when I don’t, it just flares up. Again, not much for the dandruff but for the hair and the scalp! YES! And this small tub was MYR 3.50!!! Definitely repurchasing!

This is the Innisfree Whitening Pore Cream. Won this from a giveaway and was featured in an old haul. I did just start using it this year and finally finished it up. I am not a fan of anything that markets itself as whitening, however, this cream was nice, absorbed well and smelled good. Didn’t do much to “whiten” though… My gripe with it was, after a couple of hours my face oiled up a little more than it usually does. Not anything too bad but I would have a strong urge to blot my face. I love using it at night because in the morning my skin is nice and plump and bouncy. Wouldn’t purchase it because I checked out the price online and it is a whopping MYR 125! Nope!

Another YouTube Video (8th)

It actually includes a dupe I’ve presented on FiercePaint.

Past dupe video;

Dupe 1 (link here)

Dupe 2 (link here)

Dupe 3 (link here)

I used Dupe 3 in the video.

[UPDATE] Dupe 1 and 2 are not on the video because both the dupes are not exactly available at the drugstores in Malaysia anymore. Dupe 1 has been replaced and I am yet to test the new range out. Dupe 2 is a brand that is no longer available here.

Product Empties #18

I have already reviewed this. Link here.

This is a shimmery green eyeshadow from the brand Savee. It is a local retail brand with really affordable products (almost bordering on cheap) but not really talked about. I crushed this eyeshadow up to use for the NYX Face Awards entry. Ended up using most of it but I did manage to retain some to do a hand swatch.

Ingredients list.

Hand swatch.

In terms of performance, it was pretty good for a MYR 2 eyeshadow. It is a local brand and I guess that’s the reason for the price tag. The ingredients are questionable though. I probably wouldn’t repurchase but I do believe these are discontinued and they have a new line of eyeshadows.

I have already reviewed this. Link here.

Purchased because I wanted to redeem the 100 points free sample. Again, I am one of those people who do not see much difference after using a mask! And this was the same. I did like the cooling, almost plumping kind of effect.

This tiny tub is about 3/4 full but I have stopped using it. Here’s the story; there were specific times in the past where my lips would crack and split, making it sting and I used to always dismiss it off as me not being properly hydrated. However, when that happened even with me being hydrated I  started thinking of what I was doing differently and realised it may have been because of this. And so I deliberately experimented and found out that this was the culprit. I know that there has been mixed reviews with this product. Some people swear by it, others didn’t really feel much of a difference. Mine seems to be little more extreme. This would have been a product regret if I did purchase it but this was a gift so no regrets here. Would NOT purchase.

Dupe #3

I have been wanting to do this dupe post for quite a while now! Ever since I saw the cheaper option at the drugstore. Let me tell you that this isn’t an exact dupe but when put on, looks pretty identical.

Here’s the expensive version.

And this is the cheaper option.

Wand comparison. Top one is the Essence and bottom one is Benefit.

Swatch comparison.

Definitely a difference in colour. The Benefit one is in the shade 05, Deep and the Essence one is in the shade 02, Browny Brows. Both darkest shade.

Here’s the kicker, one is MYR 125 and the other is MYR 12.90!!!!!! And I’ve purchased the cheaper one for as low as MYR 9.90!!!!

I’ll pick the Essence one all day, any day!

Ride or Die Makeup Tag

I was tagged by the beautiful Lakshmi Praba of Big is Compatible (blog link here). We are from the same hometown which is so amazing and not only is she a fellow blogger but has, of late, become a fast close friend who I can speak to about anything and everything that fuels our passion, especially MAKEUP!!! Do check her out!!!

Anyway, I do have a disclaimer to make. As much as I pride my techniques, I am not a product junkie to say the least. So, as much as I can work out products that I initially try out and use, I haven’t tried out too many product to come up with a ride or die makeup list for every type of makeup product. I do, however, have 5 products that I swear by and 4 of these I have repurchased!

I’ll just randomly name them.

Wet N Wild Megalast Lip Color in E914C Mocha-licious

I bought this in Thailand and featured it in a post (link here). I have been looking for this everywhere here in Malaysia! It is the perfect nude for me!

I bought this in Thailand and reviewed it (link here). This was the only product I haven’t repurchased because it isn’t readily available here.

Ooofff, it is straight up brown with pink undertones.

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

I swear by this product and if it does not work for you I feel so SO sorry (review link here)!!!

Silkygirl Expert Brow Slim Liner in 02 Dark Brown

This is a recent favourite which I have tested to positive results (review link here). I recently picked another hyped affordable product from Sephora and was surprised that this held up better than that!

Essence Lash & Brow Gel Mascara

This is cheap and works! Enough said! I reviewed it already (link here) and there’s even a YouTuber comparing it to a high end product.

The product.

Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara

This is a tinted gel mascara and although I have yet to compare it to its obviously high end counterpart, I love this product! I have reviewed already (link here).

YES! I got a new background!!!

My next post is a product empties post (and it’s massive!!).

And after that are pictures updated posts!

And I will catch up with all of you guys very soon!

Have a great day!

Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara Review

Essence happens to be one of my most favourite drugstore brand and it is no surprise I put it into my top 5 most affordable Malaysian drugstore makeup brand (post link here). On their website they claim to be cruelty free and apparently they also use minimal animal ingredients.

Previous Essence product reviews (Lipliner, here; Essence Eyeshadow Base, here; Essence Matt Bronzing Powder, here; Essence Longlasting Eye Pencil, here; Essence Lash and Brow Gel Mascara, here).

This product is very similar to another popular brow product that is also named very similarly *wink*.

I love it by the way, and so this review is good!

YES! I got a new background!!!

It is a tiny wand. It is pretty scratchy but nothing I can't work around.

Can you see tiny fibres? That really fills up the brows!

Can you see tiny fibres? That really fills up the brows!

Description: It is an eyebrow mascara with tiny fibres in it that help fill in the brows. It comes in two colours 01 (blondy brows) and 02 (browny brows). I have the darker one, i.e. 02. Contains 3.8 ml product.

Where to buy: Watsons [updated 14/072017].

Price: MYR 12.90 (as always, it’s a drugstore product and you could wait for a discount, but at MYR 12.90 you have nothing to lose!).

Hand swatch. It is cool tone grayish brown. Kind of a perfect match for me.

Tada!!! Filled in and full!

Tada!!! Filled in and full! And doesn’t it look natural?

I don’t typically use it on its own. I like filling in my brows with a pencil first.

Pros:

Easy to use (not a product you can go overboard with).

The tiny fibers really fill the brows up.

The wand is really helpful and small enough to fit even thin brows.

Long lasting and keeps brows in place well (a good 6 to 7 hours if you don’t sweat or rub your face/brows).

Doesn’t make the eyebrows stiff or crunchy (I hate that! I’d rather use hairspray if a product did that!).

Dries fast.

Cons:

The wand is pretty stiff.

Not waterproof (not necessarily a con).

Not easily available.

Rating:

8.9/10

This rating may change depending on how it fares with the famous high end product. I have yet to try that one but when I do I’ll review that too!!! As for the product itself, it is A-MAH-ZING! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! I already have a freaking backup!
