Even More 1 Minute Reviews on YouTube

Nope, I am not gone! Still here, still being absolutely fabulous!

And since my last 1 Minute Review compilation post, I have uploaded four more and here they are.

To preface, my 1 Minute Makeup Reviews on YouTube are reviews from FiercePaint that I’ve turned into short form clips.

More 1 Minute Reviews on YouTube!

So my 1 Minute Reviews on YouTube is a series of pictorial reviews from this blog that I’ve made into a slideshow-esque videos. I’ve only chosen products still available for purchase. The difference between my blog review and the videos is, the video would have some footage of me applying or using the product. I have already published 5 which I’ve shared here on FiercePaint (link here) and here’s a few more!

Thank you for still being here and following, and liking and commenting!

Thank you so so much!

So are felt tip liquid liners easier to use? Silkygirl liquid liner review.

I love eyeliner. It is the most satisfying part of makeup to do for me. People say it is difficult but not for me. I get so much satisfaction from being able to drag that black liquid across the lid in one sweeping motion.

UGHHHHHHH……. YASSSSS!!!

And evidently, liquid liners are my choice of product.

It’s the Wing It Sharp Liner liquid liner from Silkygirl.

Shade and some description.

Claims.

Felt tip.

Description:
Felt tip liquid liner that comes in 0.5 g or about 0.02 fl. oz. and in one shade (01 Super Black).

Ingredients:
WATER (AQUA), ACRYLATES/ETHYLHEXYL ACRYLATE COPOLYMER, CARBON BLACK (NANO), PROPYLENE GLYCOL, ACRYLATES/DIMETHYLAMINOETHYL METHACRYLATE COPOLYMER, LAURETH-21, PHENOXYETHANOL, PEG-40 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL, SODIUM LAURETH-12 SULFATE, C11-15 PARETH-7, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, SODIUM BENZOATE, POTASSIUM SORBATE, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, SODIUM DEHYDROACETATE, DISODIUM EDTA.

Price: MYR 23.90 (wait for a discount!)

Where to buy: Major drugstores/pharmacies across the country (also available in Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, Myanmar & Mongolia).

Black and opaque! Love the formula…

Water test. It doesn’t really melt off but you can see chunks missing.

Just a slight rub with water moves it. Which is why it is an easy to remove formula.

Oil test. With a bit of petroleum jelly. Definitely moves easily.

Pros:
> Opaque and very black!
> Long lasting formula.
> Definitely VERY easy to remove.
> Easy to use felt tip.

Cons:
> The felt tip tends to dry out at the tip. It can be revived by applying some pressure at the base and shaking the pen but it sometimes happens in the midst of drawing the line causing skips in the line.
> Due to the easy to remove formula, it flakes off sometimes after prolonged use causing some missing patches.
> Although fine, the felt tip is still far thicker than a brush tip applicator which, to me, hinders a really sharp wing. Doubled with the dry tip, this becomes more difficult to achieve. Not impossible. Just difficult.

> For some reason the felt tip got progressively harder making it more difficult to work.

Rating:
6.3/10
YES, absolutely! This type of product is far easier to use than a brush tip to practice your wing! A pen is easy to hold, use and a felt tip pen can be used to just stamp a wing liner easily. However, I have used better felt tip liquid liner pens in the past including one I’ve reviewed in the past which is no longer available (link here).

Product Empties #22

This was prepared months ago but I had PR reviews lined up and that’s why it’s been so long for this post to go up. But here’s my first empties of the year!

This is the Silkygirl Long-Wearing Eyeliner in 01 Black Black. It is a retractable eyeliner pencil with 0.28 grams or about 0.01 oz of product. It was a preloved item that was given to me and was drier formula which tugged on the skin when used on the eye. I used it on my fellow actors for stage performance for drawing on moustache and I would sometimes just dispense some product on my hand and use a brush to smudge out liner. It costs MYR 19.50 and safe to say I am not going to purchase it.

I have reviewed this; link here.

Yes, this is a whole bottle of product. Although I never opened it, it sat on the shelf for a bit too long and the oil spoiled. *cue wailing and crying*. Obviously there’s little use for this, but thank God this wasn’t a full sized one. I think I paid MYR45 for it. Sadly I can’t give my views on it. *cue second wave of crying and wailing*

Another YouTube Video (8th)

It actually includes a dupe I’ve presented on FiercePaint.

Past dupe video;

Dupe 1 (link here)

Dupe 2 (link here)

Dupe 3 (link here)

I used Dupe 3 in the video.

[UPDATE] Dupe 1 and 2 are not on the video because both the dupes are not exactly available at the drugstores in Malaysia anymore. Dupe 1 has been replaced and I am yet to test the new range out. Dupe 2 is a brand that is no longer available here.

Product Empties #17

Previous product empties;

#15 – here

2016 collective empties – here

I realised I had included a product that has already been featured on Product Empties #16 already, apologies for that. I usually keep the eyebrow pens even after it is emptied for the spoolie.

I have reviewed this product. Review link here.

Product already reviewed. Link here.

This was pretty good. I did a whole battle of the cleansing waters (post link here). I wouldn’t repurchase because I already do have my fave from the drugstore (click here to find out which).

Already featured this on the battle of the drugstore micellar water post. I wouldn’t repurchase this although some beauty influencers are hooked onto to this to cleanse before washing their face. You know, the whole double cleansing thing.

Silkygirl Hydra Clean Makeup Remover Review

[UPDATED REVIEW]

Silkygirl happens to be one of my favourite drugstore brands here in Malaysia. I have reviewed their products in the past here, here, and here. Today is a review of the Hydra Clean makeup remover.

The product.

Description on the back of the bottle.

Screw cap bottle.

It is lotion-like with a very runny consistency.

Description: It is a lotion type makeup remover that contains Vitamin E, chamomile and aloe vera extract.

Where to buy: All major drugstores and supermarkets that have the Silkygirl stand.

Price: MYR 18.90 for 165ml and MYR 10.90 for 100ml (as with everything at the drugstore, wait for a discount or promotion!)

Effectiveness.

Concealer, liquid foundation, powder, eyeshadow, liner, lipstick, liquid lipstick (swatched on skin), waterproof mascara (also swatched on skin).

All the makeup dissolved.

The liquid lipstick was work, and you can clearly see some mascara residue. Everything else came off pretty easily.

Pros:

It is pretty good at removing makeup.

Does not leave a sticky residue.

Skin feels fresh after makeup removal.

It has a nice soft scent.

It is definitely hydrating.

Cons:

The directions say that you need to rinse off with water which is another tiresome step for me.

The biggest con for me which is going to affect the rating of this product is the fact that my skin has a burning sensation after using this, especially around the eyes. It feels like I have rubbed my face hard, repeatedly when in fact, I haven’t.

Ratings;

4/10

I have used this in the past with no problems, however, my skin has definitely changed and with that the big con has become a deterrent for me to continue using this product. This is actually my second bottle of it which I purchased after having enjoyed the first one, but alas. 😦

Silkygirl Natural Brow Pencil Review

[UPDATED REVIEW]

I have reviewed several Silkygirl’s products (two mascaras here and here, makeup remover here, chubby stick here, and a retractable eyeliner here) and also put it in my top 5 most affordable Malaysian drugstore makeup brand (here).

This review is on the Silkygirl Natural Brow Pencil.

The product.

Name and code.

Description and ingredients.

Up close of the nib.

Swatch.

Description: Eyebrow pencil. Comes in two colours, 01 Soft Black and 02 Dark Brown. There’s a clear cap for protection and comes in 1.14 grams or about 0.04 oz.

Where to buy: Most drugstores and supermarket/hypermarkets in Malaysia.

Price: MYR 10.90 (it’s drugstore so wait for promos!!)

Bare brows.

For a black pencil (if used properly) it’s quite natural looking!

Pros:

It is cheap!

Black eyebrow pencil that isn’t too black so it has a natural finish.

Stays put (doesn’t just melt away with sweating).

Cons:

Very stiff and dry.

I never liked sharpening.

No spoolie.

Tip/Hack:

Use your hair dryer to slightly heat up stiff and dry eyebrow pencil to allow ease of application. Just a few seconds of exposure to the hot air will slightly loosen the product.

Rating;

6.8/10

It is a basic eyebrow pencil that I like because it matches my eyebrow colour. It may or may not work for you so discretion advised!

Silkygirl Big Eye Collagen Mascara Review

Silkygirl, a homegrown makeup brand, has so many underrated products and is perhaps one of the most accessible makeup brands in Malaysia. It is also available in Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia.

The product.

Collagen for eyelashes?

Wand. Yea…. I know… I’ll address this.

Description: Waterproof mascara with slightly tapered rubber bristles.

Price: MYR 28.90

Where to buy: Most drugstores in Malaysia; Watsons, Guardian, Caring, etc.

Swatch

Bare lashes.

One coat.

Two coats.

Pros:

Lengthens and thickens very nicely.

The wand is pretty effective at separating and curling the lashes.

Doesn’t clump.

No smudging.

Wand is easy to use.

Cons:

The wand deteriorates at about the three month mark because the individual bristles break off (it can be seen on the up close bristle picture).

Doesn’t really hold a curl (not on me at least).

Rating:8/10

I guess the hype surrounding this mascara is true! It is pretty good. However, it isn’t a mascara I personally like because I prefer natural looking lashes. But it is a really amazing mascara.

Product Empties #16

This has been reviewed (link here).

This has been reviewed (link here).

You should check out my battle of the drugstore micellar water post (link here) to know why I wouldn’t repurchase this.

I was gifted this by a friend and not be an jerk but this made my skin a tiny bit dry. SORRY DANIEL!!!!!!!! It was otherwise alright. I didn’t repurchase this and so I wouldn’t go ahead to actually purchase it.

Again, as much as I love using face masks, I have never really felt a big difference after using one except being rejuvenated and refreshed. And this was no different. I have a couple more of this because it came in a bundle of 4 that cost me a mere MYR10. Repurchase again, no.
