2020 Empties

No blabber, let’s get down to business!

Two notes:
1. I don’t feature an empty if I’ve featured it once before.
2. If a product has been reviewed, there will be link for you to read about it there.

These are the products I finished coming into 2021.

Perhaps not as much as my previous one but I realise I keep using products I like and hence there aren’t as much new ones to put in these posts.

It’s My Brush makeup brushes purchased from Althea Malaysia. These brushes were CHEAP and when I was trying to look out for information to post a review, boom, they were gone from the Althea website. I have this weird habit of smelling my brushes when I wash them. Having recently washed them I naturally progressed to smell them. AND THEY STUNK! It smelled like a dog having not taken it’s bath for a couple of weeks. Which leads me to believe that these might have not been synthetic brushes. To add to the confusion, the brand doesn’t really have a website! Unless I am missing it, in which case, please leave me a comment with some information. I am afraid using it might cause more harm than good. So these are being left aside as props.

Murad Essential-C Day Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF 30. Got this in a beauty bag. I didn’t like how this sat on my skin and caught myself touching my face more whenever I used it. It would even just pill off. So this sat in the back of of the drawer for a long time. And when I wanted to finish it anyway the product started separating in the tube. Since it’s MURAD, a 50ml tube will set you back MYR338! So DEFINITELY NOT purchasing!

Gold CF-Nest White Bomb Eye Cream purchased from Althea Malaysia. This worked so well initially! I actually saw a difference. It was plumping, hydrating and reduced some bagginess. However, it started not working after a few weeks in addition to making my skin itch. So I stopped using it and has been sitting in my drawer awaiting this last hurrah! Only MYR 41 for a rather generous amount. Not repurchasing.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion purchased from Sephora Malaysia. I have myself to blame! I didn’t know how to use this and failed miserably not realising all that was needed was a little more effort blending for long lasting eyeshadow. And when I did learn how to use it, the seam broke and the product dried out!!! 😢 A whole tube is MYR105 (not too bad for something you need so little of and I doubt there’s a drugstore equivalent) and I would definitely repurchase when I decide to do makeup on the side in the future.

This I got from entering a competition that had so little participants they gave all of us a bag of makeup for participation! As you can see, the bristles are coming out and it is falling apart, so I’ve decided to retire this poor fella. Got a tonne of use from it! Not available for purchase anymore.

IN2IT Lip Treat lip balm purchased from either Guardian or Watsons (I forget). Thai based makeup brand. This balm is nice to use and cheap. Not the best I’ve used and definitely not the worst. MYR 8.50 and I’ve repurchased!

Very evidently ready to retire. I’ve reviewed this sponge (link here).

ATOPALM Real Barrier Essence Mist received as PR. I was sent this to review and I LOVED it! If you have combination skin and break out occasionally, this will calm your skin down and keep it hydrated! Prices vary online and I’d be very cautious buying it online. Would repurchase if locally available in stores and price is reasonable.

NYX HD Studio Photogenic Studio Concealer purchased from Sephora Malaysia. I scraped this tube to the bottom with a brush! Check out my review (link here).

Essence I ♡ Colour Intensifying Eyeshadow Base purchased from Watsons. Reviewed (link here).

BHA Blackhead Blaster received from Althea Malaysia (PR). Reviewed (link here).

Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Liner purchased from Watsons. Reviewed (link here).

Waterful Green Bamboo received from Althea Malaysia (PR). Reviewed (link here).

This has been immortalised on my blog header picture. Maybelline Bold Matte Lipstick purchased from Watsons. Reviewed (link here).

Product Empties #25

Woah, seems like it’s been forever since I’ve done one of these. So I’ve got A LOT of products!

Two notes:
1. I don’t feature an empty if I’ve featured it once before.
2. If a product has been reviewed, there will be link for you to read about it there.

I told you! 32 products in total!

Already reviewed. Link here.

This was in a product regret post. Need I say more? If you want to read it, click the link here. It’s entertaining! (I believe it is..)

I loved this lipstick from Maybelline. It is a dark, nude colour, perfect for deeper skin. It is also smooth and moisturising. Maybelline gets their lip products RIGHT!!! Unfortunately this was getting a little too old and it turned; started smelling like oil gone bad. Had to part ways. But it did get immortalised in my blog because it is one of the lipsticks I cut up for the header picture! Scroll up and CHECK IT OUT! I LOVE IT! I doubt these are in production anymore but their new Color Sensational lipsticks are just as amazing.

I got this lash glue from Lakshmi, my blogger friend from Big is Compatible (link here). She’s amazing and I loved this lash glue! I would love to repurchase but I’d have to order it online (which I hate). Would highly recommend and it’s pretty affordable!

I am getting rid of this because I had to actually remove the product from the tube to use it. The tub just wouldn’t wind up. It is an ok lip balm, nothing to shout out about. It was cheap too but, clearly not repurchasing (MYR 10.35). I don’t think they’re in production anymore anyway.

Got this on my trip to Thailand in 2016 from Boots (it is, in fact the Boots brand lip balm). It is the most ineffective lip balm I’ve ever used. Not repurchasing. Thai Baht 64.50; approximately MYR 8.50 (now).

I got this sample in a beauty bag by Bag of Love (they are very sporadic with their offerings which is why I am not sharing any of their socials). The next product is from this bag too. This product was pretty good. H2O+ does have some good products. Couldn’t find this exact product in full size so I don’t know how much it would cost. Wouldn’t repurchase if I can’t simply walk into a physical store and get it.

This eye cream was ok. Didn’t see a marked difference. Babor is a German company and their prices are THROUGH THE ROOF!!!!!!!!!! So nope. Not purchasing! I believe a full tub of this would set you back close to MYR 400 (yes, that’s two 00s)!

I got this purely out of nostalgia. I used to liberally apply this lip balm when I was doing my undergraduate degree back in 2008. It did work just as well as I remembered it but I’ve since found better… So, not repurchasing (MYR 8.30)!

I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t exactly remember how I came into possession of this but I believe it was from my friend Daniel Boon! HI DANIEL!!! Unfortunately it’s from Origins and that means it’s expensive (full bottle – MYR 162) so I am not going to purchase. Not YET at least. But highly recommended!

This was so sad, because in spite of it being an under-performing eyeshadow I didn’t feel bad purchasing it because I loved the name of the shadow! It is from the Balm Shady Lady collection and in the shade Caught in the Act Courtney. Get back to me in the comment section if you got that reference. Anyway, although you can’t see in this picture, there was mold growing on it! 😥 RIP indeed!!!

This one has a story behind it. These cute things are about 13 years old. YES! I’m not kidding. By the way, I am still keeping them for a possibility of taking a header picture. But I thought they deserved a place in this post because I am at a place in my being where I don’t mind destroying them anymore. The three tier colour palette has several lipstick and lipgloss shades on the first tier and when performing dance during my undergraduate days I ended up using ALL of it to completion! I held on to it because it holds a lot of memories but at the moment, although those memories are cherished, some parts of it need a little edit and these eyeshadows are part of that edit.

Purchased from Mr. DIY. These are as good as cheap lashes go. They’re pretty dramatic and so very stage friendly. I used it on friends and it’s good for at MOST, two uses. When using on friends I don’t typically reuse even the same pair. And no, I don’t ask for payment when I do makeup on my friends. I do experiment on myself too and they’re ok! Very much like any cheap lashes you can find. Would repurchase if I did run out of others I have left… They cost about MYR 10-12. Yes, I am a cheapskate who’s obsessed with falsies…

Product already reviewed. Link here.

I got this in a beauty subscription bag in support of a mental health foundation called #IWillBeOkay which was the brainchild of the late blogger Fiona Loh. Yes, unfortunately Fiona has moved on to a better place and plans for future subscription bags ended with her. This travel-sized Murad Age-Diffusing Serum was pretty good! It hydrated my skin without being oily and I loved it. Unfortunately it’s Murad and so it’s expensive. A full bottle will set you back MYR 389. I don’t think I’m purchasing. Not at the moment at least.

This was also from Fiona’s beauty bag. And yes, this was another product I absolutely loved! You will definitely get the marine odour but it doesn’t linger. Unfortunately this too is a pricier item, cashing in at MYR 158. Uhmmmm….. nope…. (not now at least).

Got this Calmia Oatmeal Therapy Cleansing Tissues from Althea and it was pretty good. Not extraordinary but it was good. At MYR 6, definitely recommended! Not repurchasing because I feel I get more mileage from cleansing water and cotton pads than something like this.

Bought this because I wanted to claim my 100 points free gift which was a travel sized primer. This was good! Definitely recommended. Not going to repurchase because I got myself some good lip balms!

I don’t know how I got this! I kind of feel bad saying that this didn’t do anything because this was a teeny tiny sample that I finished in one use! A full 150ml bottle costs MYR 99 which isn’t too bad but again, not something I’d willingly purchase simply because this wasn’t convincing enough for the price.

Got this in PR. Already reviewed. Link here. Would purchase if there was a physical store accessible enough to me.

I received this in PR and I loved this cleanser! It did one thing VERY effectively, calm my face from producing zits. There’s something medicinal about it which I loved. It is sold at Watsons but at a whopping MYR 70. So, nope! Besides, I do have enough facial foaming cleanser to last me a while.

This was a Christmas gift! My brother didn’t really want it so I finished it on his behalf 😛 This was good! And it costs only MYR 6.90. But I am looking to natural deodorants instead of anti-perspirants simply to avoid added chemicals the body doesn’t need.

Got this in PR. I loved this perfume! Made me feel very macho every time I used it. Unfortunately it isn’t as long lasting as I want it to be. Wrote about it in length and if you want to check it out click here. Considering repurchasing but I do have other perfumes I love and use at the moment so not anytime soon. The female version is a lot more impressive and also a lot more long lasting! MYR 87 (each for the the female and the male version).

Got this in PR from Althea and I LOVE this product! It’s a bubble mask, it makes the skin feel soft and exfoliated. It’s easy to use and you only need to leave it on for a minute or two. It’s got 4.8/5 stars on the Althea website and is one of their bestseller. Need I make a more compelling argument? I am a little hesitant to purchase because it is MYR 52. But stellar product! Loved it!

Another gift by Lakshmi (I know right…. I have amazing friends!). This was meh. Kept my under arms smelling ok but meh… That’s the best I can say for it. Obviously not purchasing. MYR 11.90.

This is easily a 20 years old cologne. It is the Avon Wild Country cologne (and still in production believe it or not). I think my dad got this as a Christmas present, I may be wrong, maybe it was my Christmas gift, or not even a Christmas gift at all. When I was young, I felt ever so fancy when using it! With an ever-evolving palette and a more refined nose, found out about 15 years ago how terrible it actually is! WORST cologne ever! If you want to smell like a creepy pervert, this is your scent! Managed to finish it by using it sparingly and mixing it with other perfumes. Or by using it on my pants. Somehow, it’s done after 20 years. No hate towards Avon! I love Avon as a brand but I don’t love this cologne. MYR 21. Safe to say I ain’t getting into this Wild Country.

Got this when Althea was just a year old. They contacted me offering MYR 150 store credit in return for a post on my blog for their birthday celebrations (post link here). I don’t know if I could repurchase this brow product even if I wanted to because they don’t carry the brand anymore. This was a decent brow pencil. I still do have a refill (already attached). But I have other favourites so I wouldn’t repurchase anyway (originally MYR 40; purchased for MYR 13).

I FINALLY FINISHED THIS! Got this way back in 2015 and even wrote a post about it (link here). I remember thinking this was as good as any other facial blotter but I stand corrected. This is like a really thin tracing paper. It does blot oil off the face but it isn’t as soft or as effective as proper facial blotters. BUT here’s the twist. I would definitely repurchase! It’s just MYR 5.90 for 300 sheets. I don’t have particularly oily or sensitive skin and this works very well on my skin.

Product Empties #24 (and final one)

Just a small update with my Product Empties. If you didn’t already notice, my post frequencies have reduced to 2 posts a month. A calculated decision, definitely. My posts have also been more focused on makeup reviews, which was the main reason I started FiercePaint.

Wait… what was my point?

Oh ya, where my Product Empties are concerned, I am no more going to do this with just 5 products. I am just going to wait until I have a huge bunch of products I’ve used up and do it occasionally. I am also going to kill the annual collective empties.

So here’s my last product empties (hehehe, yes, clickbait title!!!!!!!!).

Previous product empties, #22 (link here), #23 (link here).

Don’t be fooled by the name, it isn’t a gloss. It is a matte liquid lipstick and a horrible one! But it wasn’t so bad to put them in a regrets post because I did get a few uses out of it. For some photoshoots and one of my stage plays. Purchased for MYR 30. NOT purchasing again!

Product already reviewed. Link here.

SK-II is the BEST skincare I’ve ever used! This facial treatment essence in particular did wonders for my face. Texture was smoothed out, eyebags reduced (yes, I pat it around the eyes too), skin tone evened out, moisture locked in and not ONE zit, NOT ONE!!!!!!!!! This FTE I got from a giveaway. It is priced at a whopping MYR 239 for a meager 75 ml!!!!!!!! Not purchasing at the moment. But if I had disposable income I’d look no further.

I got this in a beauty bag I purchased from a dear late blogger friend, Fiona. She’s been mentioned before on my blog. She passed away from some health complication but right up to her last days she was a vital, healthy young woman with a bright future and one of the most popular beauty influencers in Malaysia. Her blog is still up and her posts are all there but I can’t bring myself to visit it (link here). Moving on, this product was a dud. Everytime I used it, it was like a layer of my skin was peeled off leaving a burning sensation. My skin oiled up more than usual afterwards. Price, a whopping MYR 216.40! Nope! Not purchasing.

Product Empties #23

Previous product empties (Empties 22); link here.

I’ve used this product before this but that was before I started blogging. The product doesn’t lather much and gives the skin a very gentle wash. I bought this because I wanted to give this a whirl but at the moment, I have found better cleansers at good prices so I would not purchase this. Purchased dual pack for MYR 28.90 which makes a single tube MYR 14.45.

Got this from a giveaway and FINALLY used it up! This is a large bottle of serum I must say. I only recently managed to finish it because I had PR products to try every now and then. It definitely works and I loved it! Absorbs well and locks in moisture… It costs MYR 89.00 on Althea and I don’t think I’d repurchase just because if you didn’t already know, I am a freaking cheapskate and I have got cheaper products that work just as well.

This is the single best lip balm I’ve used!!!! Enough said! MYR 16.85! Definitely repurchasing as soon as I find it for the same price. 😛

One was a gift and the other a purchase. Both did what masks typically do for me anyway; a refreshing boost of moisture to the skin. The yoghurt mask was the one I purchased and it cost MYR 1.50. Not repurchasing the yoghurt mask, probably wouldn’t purchase the other one too.

Product Empties #22

This was prepared months ago but I had PR reviews lined up and that’s why it’s been so long for this post to go up. But here’s my first empties of the year!

This is the Silkygirl Long-Wearing Eyeliner in 01 Black Black. It is a retractable eyeliner pencil with 0.28 grams or about 0.01 oz of product. It was a preloved item that was given to me and was drier formula which tugged on the skin when used on the eye. I used it on my fellow actors for stage performance for drawing on moustache and I would sometimes just dispense some product on my hand and use a brush to smudge out liner. It costs MYR 19.50 and safe to say I am not going to purchase it.

I have reviewed this; link here.

Yes, this is a whole bottle of product. Although I never opened it, it sat on the shelf for a bit too long and the oil spoiled. *cue wailing and crying*. Obviously there’s little use for this, but thank God this wasn’t a full sized one. I think I paid MYR45 for it. Sadly I can’t give my views on it. *cue second wave of crying and wailing*

Product Empties #21

Last product empties of the year! I will be doing a collective 2017 empties in January but for the moment, here is my last for 2017!

The blurred out product had already been featured and I had discarded the other products to be able to retake the picture… Apologies!

I’ve inserted this picture from the review. I am obviously referring to NC42 on the left. It has reduced a lot more since this picture. Review link here.

This is the Collection Cosmetics Moisturising Lip Cream. Extremely similar to the next product and MUCH cheaper! I went so far as to call it a dupe (post link here). Unfortunately, the brand is no longer available here in Malaysia but this was an amazing product. I don’t think I am going out of my way to purchase this. Purchased it for MYR 10.50 (which seems kind of redundant but hey, for reference purposes anyway).

Already reviewed this; link here.

This is the Dabur Vatika Naturals, styling hair cream. I LOVE this stuff!!! My hair was softer, stronger and healthier. You know something is good when you actually feel a difference. However, I didn’t use it for its intended purpose because as much as I loved the initial scent, it would start smelling like pee after it sat for half an hour or so on the hair. I do tend to have dandruff breakouts (well, go ahead, ewwww away, I don’t care. Spoiler alert, I am human!) but it didn’t really do much for the dandruff. The only way my dandruff is cleaned up is if I wash my hair everyday without fail and when I don’t, it just flares up. Again, not much for the dandruff but for the hair and the scalp! YES! And this small tub was MYR 3.50!!! Definitely repurchasing!

This is the Innisfree Whitening Pore Cream. Won this from a giveaway and was featured in an old haul. I did just start using it this year and finally finished it up. I am not a fan of anything that markets itself as whitening, however, this cream was nice, absorbed well and smelled good. Didn’t do much to “whiten” though… My gripe with it was, after a couple of hours my face oiled up a little more than it usually does. Not anything too bad but I would have a strong urge to blot my face. I love using it at night because in the morning my skin is nice and plump and bouncy. Wouldn’t purchase it because I checked out the price online and it is a whopping MYR 125! Nope!

Product Empties #20

Wow, I have done 20 of these huh?

I got this sample when Althea (an online Korean beauty store) celebrated their 1st anniversary and offered me store credit in exchange for a shoutout. I absolutely love this cleanser! Smells great and refreshes, soothes and leaves the skin fresh. But since I do already have a favourite from the drugstore (link to it here) I probably won’t purchase this. Price for full size MYR 35 (150ml).

Already reviewed this, post link here.

This was a sample of a cleanser called Amino Hydro Intense Cleanser from the brand ePure. I got this from BFF -Asia Beauty and Style, an online beauty community with a focus on beauty and fashion reviews (link here). The paper label faded when I left in the bathroom and it became wet. You can check out the product on the website. It was pretty good but it was too little to use for more than thrice from which I couldn’t really tell a difference. Full size product costs MYR 69.90 (100 ml) which I am probably not going to purchase.

Got this way back in 2015 but only recently started using it and boy there was so much product that it was hard to get through. Funny enough my hair felt stronger and thicker! Perhaps I will try some more hair products from Guardian. Probably wouldn’t purchase this one in particular. Price MYR 26.90.

Got this from my beauty influencer friend Geetha (Instagram @geethavijaymakeup). She’s part of a glam squad I have going on. They are all beauty influencers in their own right (check them out here). This is an eye mask and it was ok. Like I said before, masks do little for me save the whole pampering it gives. I have an entire box full of 8! From Yubiso and it costs MYR 10. Won’t purchase yet because I have like 7 more left!

Product Empties #19

Contrary to the lip sleeping mask disaster (post link here), this was actually pretty good! It really hydrated my skin! But seeing the price tag on this I don’t think I would purchase this. This was actually given to me in a giveaway! Full size price; MYR 115.

I am going to make a proclamation that SK-II is the best skincare brand I have EVER used! Granted, I haven’t used much in terms of brands but my skin never looked better! Not a single breakout, more leveled hydrated skin, reduction of texture on the skin and a tiny bit reduction in pore size! This water clear lotion was amazing! Again, too expensive for me to want to purchase and this was received in a giveaway (full size price MYR 213).

I received a bunch of products from this brand via a giveaway and I must say, their facial cleansers are pretty amazing. I have featured 2 in the past and of all I like the one I used first best. After finishing all other cleansers I have I am perhaps going to purchase the one I love (product empties #14; post link here). Price MYR 12.90.

I got this in a beauty subscription service and I must say, I love this facial mist! But the measly 30ml was a bummer. Checked out the price online and it is a whopping MYR 150 for the full sized product (200ml)! 😥 Won’t purchase!

It looks like a full bottle here because I just used the picture from the haul post (no point taking picture of a product over and over again). This was put into my 2016 best discoveries (link here) post and it goes without saying that I love it! Not sure of the retail price but available online for as low as MYR17. Apparently the brand is being discontinued in Malaysia. Hopefully online options are still there. Will repurchase for sure!

Product Empties #18

I have already reviewed this. Link here.

This is a shimmery green eyeshadow from the brand Savee. It is a local retail brand with really affordable products (almost bordering on cheap) but not really talked about. I crushed this eyeshadow up to use for the NYX Face Awards entry. Ended up using most of it but I did manage to retain some to do a hand swatch.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BTwha_iA5bZ/?taken-by=harivain

https://www.instagram.com/p/BTsS96uAkDS/?taken-by=harivain

Ingredients list.

Hand swatch.

In terms of performance, it was pretty good for a MYR 2 eyeshadow. It is a local brand and I guess that’s the reason for the price tag. The ingredients are questionable though. I probably wouldn’t repurchase but I do believe these are discontinued and they have a new line of eyeshadows.

I have already reviewed this. Link here.

Purchased because I wanted to redeem the 100 points free sample. Again, I am one of those people who do not see much difference after using a mask! And this was the same. I did like the cooling, almost plumping kind of effect.

This tiny tub is about 3/4 full but I have stopped using it. Here’s the story; there were specific times in the past where my lips would crack and split, making it sting and I used to always dismiss it off as me not being properly hydrated. However, when that happened even with me being hydrated I  started thinking of what I was doing differently and realised it may have been because of this. And so I deliberately experimented and found out that this was the culprit. I know that there has been mixed reviews with this product. Some people swear by it, others didn’t really feel much of a difference. Mine seems to be little more extreme. This would have been a product regret if I did purchase it but this was a gift so no regrets here. Would NOT purchase.

I realised I had included a product that has already been featured on Product Empties #16 already, apologies for that. I usually keep the eyebrow pens even after it is emptied for the spoolie.

I have reviewed this product. Review link here.

This was pretty good. I did a whole battle of the cleansing waters (post link here). I wouldn’t repurchase because I already do have my fave from the drugstore (click here to find out which).

Already featured this on the battle of the drugstore micellar water post. I wouldn’t repurchase this although some beauty influencers are hooked onto to this to cleanse before washing their face. You know, the whole double cleansing thing.
