No Buy 2017 Update (Haul #14)

I had made an announcement in my 2016 Collective Product Empties (link here) that 2017 would be a NO BUY year in terms of cosmetics.

I did make exceptions for things that I used and ran out of and the single frivolous expense would be the original Beauty Blender (something I have been dying to try out!).

So, save for a face mask, and the Hugo Boss perfume, everything else were repurchased stuff I use regularly.

Drugstore (Watsons, Guardian) and Dollar Store (Mr. DIY)

Purple metal pen holder (Mr. DIY), MYR 3.50. I purchased this with some other things for my aunt, however, she ended up paying me back in excess and it more than covered the cost of it.

Nivea Men Invisible Anti-Perspirant (Guardian), original price; MYR 16.80, purchased for; MYR 15. I am looking into anti-perspirant vs deodorant and the whole safety reasoning; a revelation I only came into after having purchased this.

Maybelline Micellar Water (Guardian), original price; MYR 22.40, purchased for; MYR 9 (I KNOW RIGHT??!!!).

Kate Powderless Liquid Foundation (won via a giveaway), price (on Watsons); MYR 78.40.

Beauty stores (Sephora and Shins)

Hugo Boss Red EDT (Shins), original price; MYR 254, purchased for; MYR 137 (I KNOW RIGHT??!!!).

Sephora Lotus eye mask, price; MYR 8. I only purchased this to redeem the 100 points sample product which was the Sephora Pore & Fine Line Filler primer (in the middle).

FINALLY! I HAVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! THE BEAUTY BLENDER. Original price; MYR 99, purchased for; MYR 61.40. Purchased with my fellow beauty influencer friends. We went in on a promotion by Sephora; 5 pack for MYR 307, and so one comes up to about MYR 61.40, an unbeatable price! Even with the 20% Sephora private sale, it would only come up to MYR 79.20.

Haul; Collective Haul (#8)

As much as I love buying makeup, I have come to realise, if I am not using something up, it seems like a complete waste of resources. And I am also looking into getting more high end makeup.

That doesn’t mean I am going to stop buying! Hahaha!!! 😛 😛 😛

I am just being a little more calculative when buying makeup nowadays.

Which is why this collective haul isn’t like I used to do it.

Haul; Thailand Trip Mini Haul (#7)

So, I went on a trip to Thailand representing the university, specifically my school (faculty) to Ubon Ratchathani University. I was among 4 others chosen (it was an all paid trip; SCORE!). We were to attend their annual Agriculture Fair and engage in information exchange, regarding both academia structure and cultural practices. We were even asked to prepare a brief cultural performance.

Just a little background information, Ubon Ratchathani is a northeastern province in Thailand. It is also the eastern most province of Thailand, bordering Laos and Cambodia.

We were taken sightseeing and also visited a shopping mall. I only bought three products in the course of the four days there so this is smaller than a mini haul. It is a teeny tiny haul.

One from Boots, one from Watsons, and one from the Don Muang Airport (domestic flight area not the duty free shopping area).

Watsons

I haven't seen this cosmetic brand here and decided to grab this lip balm. The salesgirl (unlike condescending sales people here in Malaysia) was so nice to me. And because they spoke so little English, I had to try and try to ask them for a local makeup brand I can try out. They had none there. Only skincare (which was rather pricey).

I jumped for joy when I saw Boots at the shopping mall we went to. They had brands I have only ever heard of YouTubers and beauty gurus talk about, like No.7 and Seventeen. However, I wasn’t pressed to purchase anything. Price tags seemed to be quite heavy. So I bought this Boots brand lipbalm instead! Price; 64.50 baht, approximately MYR 7.50.

Haul; Collective Haul (#6)

Although collective, this wasn’t a big haul, even considering the fact that my last collective haul post was in October 2015! I might as well have participated in a low buy challenge huh?

Anyway, my picture settings have changed and I would like some feedback. I am loving it so far.

IMG_5060

There are also products sent to me for reviewing purposes. So, as I usually do, here’s a breakdown.
Products sent for review

IMG_5113

This is a range of products from the brand Paula’s Choice. Popular YouTubers like Tati and Wayne Goss have used and raved about it. I have already been using them and I love it so far (review coming up soon!). In the mean time, if you have heard good things about the brand and want to try it but don’t know where to purchase them here in Malaysia, you can order them from Facial Room Malaysia. Just visit their Facebook page and website for all the information.

I have previously mentioned Muffin Beauty; an online beauty review community in Malaysia. I am a member of their Beauty Club. They recently had a makeover and changed their name to BFF -Asia Beauty and Style (link here). To commemorate this upgrade they sent out a package to all their Beauty Club members with come skincare goodies. The one featured here is the Neesya Brightening Night Rejuvenator. There was also a face mask and some other samples.

Indian shop Haul

I say Indian shop because I have forgotten exactly which shop I bought this from. However, if you are familiar with this brand, you would also know that these products are usually available in Indian shops (Cash N Carry). I bought it from Little India in Penang. Little India is commonly referred to certain places in Malaysia with a heavy concentration of Indian specialty shops.

Franch Moisturizing Cream (200 ml); MYR 9.90.

Also, I would like to share an amazing giveaway by a fellow blogger, Stashy. Stashy actually inspired me to do my 2015 Collective Product Empties post! Hi Stashy!!! Do head over and join her giveaway! Giveaway post link here. Was supposed to pingback this on my last post but I forgot *facepalm*.

Haul; Mini Haul (#5)

This is a teeny tiny haul because I wanted to share the things I bought with my Sephora gift vouchers I won from the giveaway by Sabrina (blog; SabbyPrue, link; here).

Teeny tiny haul, I know!!!

Teeny tiny haul, I know!!!

IMG_4282This is just the Tesco brand cotton facial wipes and I usually buy the value packs where it comes in two 100 pieces packs in one (1 100 piece pack = MYR 1.50; 1 value pack with two 100 pieces packs = MYR 2.55). It’s cheap and it works! I featured it in my first Product Empties post (link here). Price MYR 2.55 each (I bought two value packs).

IMG_4285I have always wanted to try the Sephora collection foundation because they do cost way much less than all other brands in the Sephora outlet (except NYX). I have had only positive experiences with all the other Sephora brand stuff I own and the range of shades in their foundation line is pretty impressive, to me, due to the simple fact that they carry very dark shades! I have heard only good things about this foundation in particular so I told myself, get it! Price MYR 69.

Aaaaannnd…… it comes with the one thing every makeup enthusiast loves in a foundation!

IMG_4311The Better than Sex mascara!!! I bought the deluxe sample size which is a great way to try out a mascara. Price MYR 45.
